The Feng Shui Conflict Over Airplanes This Month

First the swine flu outbreak in Mexico sends the travel industry into a tailspin leaving travellers to wonder if flying in an enclosed airplane with potentially sick companions is such a good idea.

Then yesterday the White House sent a Boeing 747 over New York City for half an hour in an unannounced photo op for the FAA scaring the citizens of New York and angering Mayor Bloomberg.

It's all to be expected this month because the center gua (which sets the global feng shui 'theme' for the month) holds the Conflict Star and the Star associated with flying. That means arguments, disagreements, lack of communication and even confusion when it comes to flying.

Can You Feng Shui to Ward off Pandemic Flu?

Every year there are new feng shui Flying Stars that affect all of us. The position of these stars paint a picture of what possibilities, opportunities and challenges lie ahead for us in the coming year.

About every 90 years the position of the Stars and feng shui elements (water, wood, metal, earth and fire) repeat themselves. When this happens you can look back to see what happened the last time this Flying Star/feng shui element combination occurred to give you an blueprint for what is possible again.

The last time we had the Flying Star/feng shui element combination we have now in 2009 was back in 1919. At that time one of the biggest challenges facing the world was the pandemic flu that killed more people than died in World War I.

It is the fear of another '1919 pandemic' that has world governments and World Health Organization worried about the Swine Flu these past couple of days. If you've done any reading on the government's preparation for another pandemic it's quite alarming. I won't go into that here because it's not the purpose of this article.

What I can talk about is the feng shui and what you can do about it.

Lots of people who read my articles are already practicing classical feng shui so what I'm about to say may seem over simplified. But more and more people reading this blog are not familiar with feng shui or only have a basic understanding of it so I would rather spell everything out than talk over your head and leave you out of the loop.

First, Feng Shui Masters consider life to be made up of 3 types of luck:

1. 33% is Heaven Luck - which is your destiny or fate. They believe this cannot be changed (tho Edgar Cayce and some other spiritual masters have said you can with hard work).

2. 33% is Human Luck - this includes your talents and skills and how YOU choose to apply them. It also includes your friends, family and other relationships. Your Human Luck is under your control and it's up to you how to apply it.

3. 33% is Earth Luck - Your Earth Luck is your environment, the country, state, city and neighborhood you live in and even the home you chose to live in. It also includes your feng shui.

Where you live and whether you choose to create an environment that supports you (your feng shui) is up to you as well.

So that leads us back to the current concern over a possible pandemic flu. Knowing that you have control over your environment you can use feng shui in combination with your Human Luck to support you in any situation.

In the case of a pandemic flu using your Human Luck would include taking care of yourself, eating foods that are healthy, drinking plenty of fluids, washing your hands, resting when you are not feeling well, having supplies on hand for possible illness whether that be homeopathic or over the counter remedies and staying away from people who are sick. You may have other ideas as well.

Additionally, use your personal protection meditation. Your body, like everything else on the planet, has an energy field around it. Use your personal protection meditation to help strenthen that energy field.

So that takes care of 33% of your luck.

Your feng shui remedies include identifying where the Illness Star is in your home and office for the year and where it is each month as well (there are both yearly and monthly Illness Stars). Once you know where those areas are make sure you place your feng shui remedies in those areas of your home and office to reduce the energy of this Star.

If you have a chronic illness, especially if it's not well controlled, DO NOT sleep or work in the area where the Illness Star is located as this could make your situation worse. Move to another room temporarily.

If your front door is where the Illness Star is located DO NOT use your front door. Come and go from the garage or back door instead. Most homes and office buildings have more than one door so take advantage of it even if it's a minor inconvenience.

The other Star you want to watch out for is the Disaster Star. This is the most dense (think school yard bully) Star and is not one you want to mess with. Do not sleep or work in rooms that have the Disaster Star on it. Do not use the door where the Disaster Star is located to come and go from your home or office.

And of course, get your feng shui remedy in place to reduce the energy of this Star. You cannot eliminate its energy completely but you can cut it back significantly and in my book that's a million times better than doing nothing at all.

Philip Markoff's Bizarre Feng Shui

This week the news of a deadly killer using Craig's List to find his victims tormented the residents of New England. The police identified a clean cut medical student as the suspected criminal/murderer in these cases shocking his school, his friends and his unsuspecting fiance.

What's even more puzzling is that Philip Markoff (notice the similarity to Madoff in the name?) has a great feng shui Flying Stars working for him this year. It's the Star of New Beginnings on his Relationship direction. He was planning to get married this year which ideally suits the energy of this Star.

This Star can also introduce new people into your life, like the victims of his crimes. It's unfortunate that he presumably chose to use the Star's energy this way because it could have been used in a very positive way for him this year.

But I think what tripped Philip up was the energy of 3 other feng shui Flying Stars and those are the Illness Star, Power Star and the Conflict Star. Here's what I see happening for him with these Stars.

First, the Illness Star is on his Health direction meaning he is more prone to mental, emotional and physical illness this year. Whenever the Illness Star is on your Health any disease you already have (whether diagnosed or not) is going to become more prominent to show you it needs attention. On top of that this month the Disaster Star combined with the Illness Star on his Health making it the prime opportunity for his illness to get noticed.

So far experts who have talked about Philip have said he displays all the usual signs of a serial killer. He probably displayed them before but the Illness/Disaster Star combination made these characteristics shine.

Next he has the Conflict Star on his Success direction. That means getting into arguments with people at work or experiencing roadblocks in your career.

We know that he also had a gambling problem. When you have an addiction like this it can be considered your career. We also know that the police think he beat his victims and killed the last one to steal money for his gambling debts which created obstacles for him this year and probably even arguments with those he owed money (you think)?

And finally he has the Power Star on his Wisdom direction. This Star is usually beneficial bringing about unexpected opportunities or windfalls but if you're power hungry and you want to show someone who's boss it can lead to destruction. Kind of like the police beating a guy to death for an expired driver's license. This month that Star's energy doubled and it looks like Philip used it to take his anger about his gambling problem out on these unsuspecting women.

It's sad that these women had to suffer at the hands of this man and it's just as fortunate that the police have been able to easily find so much evidence linking him to these crimes.

Illness Creates Problems for Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking was rushed to a hospital just north of London today after fighting a chest infection for the past several weeks. The 67 year old Cambridge University professor is best known for his research in black holes.

It's not surprising that Professor Hawking would be ill this month or even this year because the feng shui Illness Star sits on his Health direction for 2009. This month is particularly challenging because the Disaster Star for April joins the Illness Star in the Professor's Health direction.

Whenever Illness and Disaster Stars combine you need to be extremely careful, particularly if you are already in poor health. That's because this combination can be deadly. Let's hope he recovers from this event.

Andy Roddick Gets Married but Will it Last?

If you haven't heard already tennis star Andy Roddick married his long-time girlfriend and swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker yesterday at his home in Austin, TX. In addition to other celebrity tennis stars attending the ceremony Elton John sang.

Wish I could have been there!

My sister-in-law is getting married later this year and whenever someone is getting married I like to look at the feng shui to see if it supports or hinders the relationship.

If the feng shui is supportive then it's easier to get through the rough times in your marriage.

If the feng shui hinders the relationship then tough times can be really rough and separation or even divorce is more likely down the road.

In Roddick's case he has the feng shui Transformation Star on his Relationship direction this year. This star means that you let go of old relationships and make way for new ones and marriage is certainly a new relationship for him.

The challenge with this star is that it is two-faced and the other face is Disaster. This side of the Star can mean break-ups and in worst case scenarios even the death of someone you know. In fact, Mel Gibson shares the same personal feng shui and is going through a divorce this year.

This month the energy of the Disaster Star is watered down because the monthly feng shui Star is all about long-term commitments. So while it's the perfect month for Andy to get married it's a terrible year for him.

I hate to be a Negative Nancy but given the feng shui this year for Andy's Relationship direction I'd have to say the marriage will not likely go the distance. Next year would have been a tremendously better year for him.

Let's hope his Destiny and Human Luck kick in and turn the bad feng shui around for him.

Ryan's Got a Girlfriend

The tabloid (and regular) news is all abuzz about Ryan Seacrest having a new girlfriend. It's even more abuzz about Ryan admitting he'd be open to hooking up with CBS anchor Katie Couric.

Maybe they should do a Cougar show about that!

It's no wonder that Ryan met a new gal right now because his feng shui Relationship direction has the Transformation Star on it this month. That means making new friends as well as letting go of old.

But it's doubtful this relationship will last because the Transformation Star has a flip side to it: Disaster.

On top of that the yearly feng shui Star sitting on his Relationship direction is associated with having to work hard to make your relationships work for him. Given his schedule with Idol, the Top 40 show he does, all the travelling and other public events he's involved with even if he wanted to work hard at the relationship he probably doesn't have the time.

So what about his comment about Katie Couric? Well, Ryan's Success direction is associated with romance and older women so it's not surprising he would be interested in dating her. It could even be very beneficial for his career, particularly this year.

Susan Boyle: What a Voice!

Wow! If you haven't heard Susan Boyle sing you're missing out big time. She left the judging panel of Britain's Got Talent completely awestruck this week not to mention the rest of the world.

Even Simon Cowell was left with his mouth hanging down to his chin.

It's no wonder Susan decided to leave the security of her home and sing for the world. This year she has two FABULOUS feng shui stars working for her.

Captain Phillips' Rescue at Sea

Captain Richard Phillips is being hailed as a hero for his daring attempts to escape the Samoli pirates at see this past week. A combination of Navy expertise and sheer determination gained the Captain his freedom yesterday to the cheers of everyone I know and the relief of his family and friends.

I don't have the exact date of Capt. Phillips birth so I can't comment on his personal feng shui but I can tell you that opportunity for disaster on the high seas is much greater this year and especially for middle aged men like the Captain.

That's because the Disaster star sits in the area of the feng shui ba gua designated for water. It also happens to be the area tied to middle aged men and the middle son of the family.

Less than two months ago we saw another ocean disaster when two professional football players and their friends went out on a fishing trip and never returned. The boat capsized in heavy seas and one of the guys chose to stay with the boat. He was rescued three days later while the others have never been found.

I believe the reason Capt. Phillips experienced better fate than this is that this month there is a very favorable star sitting in the north with the Disaster star. Because of this the energy of the Disaster star is reduced considerably. That in combination with the Captain's sheer will to get free worked to his benefit.

But there are some months when incidents like this and accidents on the water will not turn out as well. July is one of those months so if you are planning a boating trip, a cruise or you know someone who works on the water tell them to take extra precautions in July.

Barrett Jackson's Flying Star

Every year the Barret Jackson auto auction takes place here in Palm Beach, Florida. Even though the event is less than 10 miles from my house my husband and I watch it on t.v. for fun.

This year like always the cars vary in make, model, style and price. You would think that since we're in an economic slump there wouldn't be too many people there but it's packed. Every seat is taken and there are lots more people walking around.

That tells you 2 things: 1) Plenty of people are still spending and have money to spend and 2) the feng shui is good for autos.

Yes, you heard that right. Despite GM's woes the car industry has a great feng shui Flying Star on it this year. It's the star of Cash Flow and New Beginnings.

That means that the auto industry had the opportunity to make money or receive money this year if they take a new approach to their business. This can come in the form of loans like we've seen from the government, sales of autos or even bringing in foreign investors to help them shore up their financial resources.

Obviously, Barrett Jackson's approach is one that's working for them and they appear to be doing quite well tonight.

It's Not Always Fun to be Right

If you heard my Feng Shui Outlook for 2009 earlier this year one of the first things I talked about on the call was the increased possibility for fires, bombings, volcanic activity, plane crashes and earthquakes. The reason for this is the feng shui energy that sits at the heart of the planet for the year.

Since the new Feng Shui year began in February 2009 we've seen new volcanic activity in Japan and Alaska and increased activity in areas like Chile and other countries along the belt known as 'The Ring of Fire.'

We've also experiened more earthquakes with the most recent one occurring in L'Aquila, Italy but others have occured in Costa Rica, Indonesia and stronger quakes in California than usual.

The number of plane crashes has also been high. The most heroic of these was Capt. Sully's brilliant landing on the Hudson while the others ended tragically. There have been 17 plane crashes this year which is about 20% higher than this same period last year.

Fires occur year after year, particularly during the dry season but this year the fires will be even more devastating because they are more likely to impact on homes and families. The fires burning in Central Oklahoma are a perfect example of this.

The challenge is that the closer we get to July the more we will see this activity increase.

Dixie Chick Natalie Maines is known for her controversial style and words. And she's done it again this week with her controversial new haircut.

Some people are calling her a 'Dixie Dude' saying she looks more like a guy with her military issue haircut.

And it all ties right in with her personal feng shui this year because the Conflict Star sits smack dab on her Relationship direction meaning people are going to give her grief this year pretty much no matter what she does. Add her daring personality to the mix and you get even more fireworks.

Good Guy Brian Dawkins

NFL star Brian Dawkins made a moving gesture this week when fan Dan Leone was fired from his part-time job with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dawkin's old team. Dawkins has since signed with the Denver Broncos.

Dan criticized the Eagles for letting Dawkins leave the Eagles and was let go from his part-time job as a seasonal game day employee. When Dawkins heard about it he gave Dan his tickets to the Broncos/Eagles game that will be played in Philadelphia later this year. A generous gesture from a generous guy.

The feng shui energy on Brian Dawkins' Wisdom direction this year makes him more thoughtful when it comes to other people than usual. That's because he has the Relationship Star energy on his Wisdom direction this year. Following his gut instincts and trusting his inner wisdom will help him connect with people on a much deeper level this year than he is used to experiencing.

His move to the Broncos also shows up in the Transformation Star that sits on his Relationship direction this year, meaning the people he used to be friends with or work with will change this year.

And the Robbery Star sits on his Success direction meaning loss of money through work or even loss of a job which showed up for him as leaving the Eagles.

Government Says, "Oops" to Stevens

Today the federal government did a 180 on the conviction of former Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens. Stevens was indicted in July 2008 and convicted of not reporting gifts he received from the VECO Corporation. But US Attorney General Eric Holder said the prosocution exhibited serious misconduct and is moving to have the conviction withdrawn.

Wow...I'm not Stevens, don't know him and don't know anyone who does know him but the word 'framed' comes to mind in a big way.

Regardless of what I think I wanted to see what his feng shui says about him.

Stevens had a tough star on his Relationship direction last year, the Illness Star. When you're in the public eye your Relationship star is the one to focus on because this will have the greatest impact on you.

The Illness star on Relationships means you have to try harder to get people to see your point of view, to hear you out and to relate to you. At the time Sen. Stevens was indicted the stars for the month and the year created major stress on relationships which would have made it extremely difficult to buck the charges.

Then in October he was convicted and at that time the stars created a combination that seriously weakened his career and relationships. Although this put a strain on his ability to win it shouldn't have prevented his attorneys from overcoming the charges. But the government had the Windfall star working for it combined with the Robbery star meaning that they could win by 'stealing' something from the other side.

And that leads us to today's announcement by the US Attorney General. It turns out that what the government did was withhold information from the defense. In a nutshell, they 'stole' information.

The timing of this news ties right in to this year's feng shui too. Stevens has the star of New Beginnings on his Relationship direction this year and this is tied to the Transformation star this month. It certainly is a major transformation that will bring new people into Stevens' life.

The government on the other hand has the Robbery star on it this year meaning they will lose a lot of things this year: money, connection with the public and yes, even lawsuits.
