California's Still Got Checks So Where's the Money?

Well I think it's official. The only group worse at running money than hedge fund managers is the State of California. They're not just broke they're so far in the hole they may actually reach China soon.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said California's government needs to become more efficient and learn to provide services for less. Hhmmm...that sounds so familiar. I believe this has been the mantra of most Americans for the past year so it seems that California has been a little slow to figure out that their bills exceed their income. Reminds me of the guy who told me his wife believed that as long as she had checks in the checkbook there must be money.

But it's quite possible that even if the budget had been well managed that California would still be in a bind. That's because the feng shui of the state is not great this year.

The feng shui Illness Star sits on the capitol of California this year. The Illness Star on people usually means health problems but on businesses and governments it means anemic finances so you have to work harder to make the numbers work and to bring in revenue. What's even more challenging is that the energy of the Illness Star will double in July making it even harder for California to resolve it's budget problem.

The State has other feng shui Flying Stars working against it as well. The Robbery Star sits in the area of government this year meaning local, state and national governments all over the world are being 'robbed' of tax revenue. As it happens the Robbery Star also sits on California's Success direction and guess what? The energy of these Stars double in July too.

Between the Illness Star on California, the Robbery Star on government and the Robbery Star on California's Success direction it's no wonder that this state is experiencing more problems than others around the country. And it's going to get worse before it gets better that's for sure.

California's citizens are not going to sit idley by and allow the government to cut their social services, access to their parks or access to education either. That's because the Disaster Star sits on California's Relationship direction meaning there's going to be a battle - a battle from the people receiving help from the state, a battle from the people who are being taxed to provide the services and a battle in getting aid from the Federal government to help out as well.

The Disaster Star does create havoc but it also brings about transformation. So the way the state has done business in the past is going to have to be overhauled in order to move forward and in the end it will be better for everyone. But it won't be easy and people aren't going to appreciate it that's for sure.

Air France Flight 447's Mysterious Disappearance

Air France flight 447 left Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 7 p.m. on its way to Paris, France. At 11:14 p.m. an automatic message was sent reporting that the plane had an electrical system failure and a loss in cabin pressure according to an Associated Press report.

2009 is a tough year for flying. In fact the feng shui Flying Stars for airplanes is particularly bad this year. Although from Feb. 4, 2008 (the start of the new year's feng shui Flying Stars) to June 1, 2008 there were more airplane accidents than over the same period this year, 2009 has had 35% more fatal crashes than last year.

That's because the feng shui Fire Star sits in the Center gua (think center square of a tic-tac-toe symbol) in 2009 and this Star is tied into flying, airplanes and birds.

At the time of the flight there were two other feng shui Stars that were problematic. The first is the Illness Star for the month and the Violence Star for the day. Both of these Stars were in the Center gua with the Fire Star and this triple combo creates fire and electrical disturbances.

There were plenty of other flights that took off and landed perfectly safely May 31 but the difference between those flights and the Air France flight is that flight 447 crossed through a zone of thunderstorms with strong turbulence. The pilot's decision to fly through this zone is what we call Human Luck in feng shui and when you make bad choices during times of bad feng shui it can create disasterous results.

It looks like that's what happened in the case of Air France. My heartfelt prayers go out to all of those on flight 447 and their families.

Will Sotomayor Be Our Next Supreme Court Justice?

Initially when President Obama announced his choice of Federal Judge Sonia Sotomayor as our next Supreme Court Justice there was a loud round of applause. She's a woman, she's Hispanic, she came from a disadvantaged home and has become quite successful. All the things we're now looking for in our politically correct society.

But after a day or two abortion advocates complained that she may be inclined to overturn Roe v. Wade while Republicans complained that Sotomayor's comment back in 2001 about being better able to make legal decisions than her priviledged white male counterparts. It seems she struck nerves on both sides of the political table.

But what does her feng shui say about her chances of gaining a seat on the most prestigious legal panel in the country?

Sonia is a middle aged woman and this year middle aged women are in the spotlight whether it's for better or for worse.

But the feng shui Flying Stars that will affect her more are her Wisdom and Relationship Stars this year and 2009 is not that great for her. On her Wisdom direction she has the Conflict Star. This means decisions she's made in the past and even now will create friction from people around her. Even if she's been right or is right, people are going to give her a hard time about her opinions and decisions.

On her Relationship direction she has the Illness Star which makes it harder for her to connect with people whether they know her already or not. When this feng shui Star is on you it means you have to work harder at making your Relationships go smoothly.

What's even more challenging is that the feng shui Stars on her Wisdom and Relationship directions in June and July make the feng shui energy even worse for her. Looking at these two directions the odds of Sotomayor getting confirmed are slim.

Even when I look at her Success direction it doesn't look good. If her confirmation hearings are held in June she won't get confirmed unless her Destiny and Human Luck are really fabulous. The reason for this is that she has the feng shui Robbery Star working against her career that month.

So that makes 3 really bad feng shui Stars for June. You only have 4 good directions and when 75% of them are working against you it's better to lay low. Alternatively you can put up your feng shui remedies and make a month like this go much more smoothly for you but I still wouldn't recommend that you change jobs with feng shui stars like this.

July is slightly better because she has a double Windfall Star on her Success direction that month which can mean you get what you want out of the blue. Because that energy is so strong and that month is also doubly good for middle aged women to get promoted she could more easily get the Supreme Court nod if the hearings are delayed until then.
