California's Still Got Checks So Where's the Money?

Well I think it's official. The only group worse at running money than hedge fund managers is the State of California. They're not just broke they're so far in the hole they may actually reach China soon.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said California's government needs to become more efficient and learn to provide services for less. Hhmmm...that sounds so familiar. I believe this has been the mantra of most Americans for the past year so it seems that California has been a little slow to figure out that their bills exceed their income. Reminds me of the guy who told me his wife believed that as long as she had checks in the checkbook there must be money.

But it's quite possible that even if the budget had been well managed that California would still be in a bind. That's because the feng shui of the state is not great this year.

The feng shui Illness Star sits on the capitol of California this year. The Illness Star on people usually means health problems but on businesses and governments it means anemic finances so you have to work harder to make the numbers work and to bring in revenue. What's even more challenging is that the energy of the Illness Star will double in July making it even harder for California to resolve it's budget problem.

The State has other feng shui Flying Stars working against it as well. The Robbery Star sits in the area of government this year meaning local, state and national governments all over the world are being 'robbed' of tax revenue. As it happens the Robbery Star also sits on California's Success direction and guess what? The energy of these Stars double in July too.

Between the Illness Star on California, the Robbery Star on government and the Robbery Star on California's Success direction it's no wonder that this state is experiencing more problems than others around the country. And it's going to get worse before it gets better that's for sure.

California's citizens are not going to sit idley by and allow the government to cut their social services, access to their parks or access to education either. That's because the Disaster Star sits on California's Relationship direction meaning there's going to be a battle - a battle from the people receiving help from the state, a battle from the people who are being taxed to provide the services and a battle in getting aid from the Federal government to help out as well.

The Disaster Star does create havoc but it also brings about transformation. So the way the state has done business in the past is going to have to be overhauled in order to move forward and in the end it will be better for everyone. But it won't be easy and people aren't going to appreciate it that's for sure.

It's amazing how feng shui Flying Stars can give you so many clues about what opportunities and challenges lie ahead from year to year and month to month. Air France Flight 447's Mysterious Disappearance

Air France flight 447 left Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 7 p.m. on its way to Paris, France. At 11:14 p.m. an automatic message was sent reporting that the plane had an electrical system failure and a loss in cabin pressure according to an Associated Press report.

2009 is a tough year for flying. In fact the feng shui Flying Stars for airplanes is particularly bad this year. Although from Feb. 4, 2008 (the start of the new year's feng shui Flying Stars) to June 1, 2008 there were more airplane accidents than over the same period this year, 2009 has had 35% more fatal crashes than last year.

That's because the feng shui Fire Star sits in the Center gua (think center square of a tic-tac-toe symbol) in 2009 and this Star is tied into flying, airplanes and birds.

At the time of the flight there were two other feng shui Stars that were problematic. The first is the Illness Star for the month and the Violence Star for the day. Both of these Stars were in the Center gua with the Fire Star and this triple combo creates fire and electrical disturbances.

There were plenty of other flights that took off and landed perfectly safely May 31 but the difference between those flights and the Air France flight is that flight 447 crossed through a zone of thunderstorms with strong turbulence. The pilot's decision to fly through this zone is what we call Human Luck in feng shui and when you make bad choices during times of bad feng shui it can create disasterous results.

It looks like that's what happened in the case of Air France. My heartfelt prayers go out to all of those on flight 447 and their families.

Will Sotomayor Be Our Next Supreme Court Justice?

Initially when President Obama announced his choice of Federal Judge Sonia Sotomayor as our next Supreme Court Justice there was a loud round of applause. She's a woman, she's Hispanic, she came from a disadvantaged home and has become quite successful. All the things we're now looking for in our politically correct society.

But after a day or two abortion advocates complained that she may be inclined to overturn Roe v. Wade while Republicans complained that Sotomayor's comment back in 2001 about being better able to make legal decisions than her priviledged white male counterparts. It seems she struck nerves on both sides of the political table.

But what does her feng shui say about her chances of gaining a seat on the most prestigious legal panel in the country?

Sonia is a middle aged woman and this year middle aged women are in the spotlight whether it's for better or for worse.

But the feng shui Flying Stars that will affect her more are her Wisdom and Relationship Stars this year and 2009 is not that great for her. On her Wisdom direction she has the Conflict Star. This means decisions she's made in the past and even now will create friction from people around her. Even if she's been right or is right, people are going to give her a hard time about her opinions and decisions.

On her Relationship direction she has the Illness Star which makes it harder for her to connect with people whether they know her already or not. When this feng shui Star is on you it means you have to work harder at making your Relationships go smoothly.

What's even more challenging is that the feng shui Stars on her Wisdom and Relationship directions in June and July make the feng shui energy even worse for her. Looking at these two directions the odds of Sotomayor getting confirmed are slim.

Even when I look at her Success direction it doesn't look good. If her confirmation hearings are held in June she won't get confirmed unless her Destiny and Human Luck are really fabulous. The reason for this is that she has the feng shui Robbery Star working against her career that month.

So that makes 3 really bad feng shui Stars for June. You only have 4 good directions and when 75% of them are working against you it's better to lay low. Alternatively you can put up your feng shui remedies and make a month like this go much more smoothly for you but I still wouldn't recommend that you change jobs with feng shui stars like this.

July is slightly better because she has a double Windfall Star on her Success direction that month which can mean you get what you want out of the blue. Because that energy is so strong and that month is also doubly good for middle aged women to get promoted she could more easily get the Supreme Court nod if the hearings are delayed until then.

Robin Soderling's Excellent Fate

Four time French Open champion Rafael Nadal was defeated by Robin Soderling today. The number 1 ranked tennis player was expected to easily defeat Soderling so the upset came as quite a shock to the tennis world.

Let's look at Rafael Nadal's personal feng shui for clues about today's loss and see if it tells us anything.

First off Nadal has the feng shui Flying Star associated with Windfalls on his Success direction this year. On top of that he has the Flying Star of Abundance on his Success direction this month. This is a great combination and likely helped Nadal today.

But when you're an athlete the most important direction is your Health direction. Nadal's Health direction also has a great feng shui Star on it this year. It's the Star of New Beginnings. But this month the Conflict Star is on his Health direction too. This combination of feng shui stars very likely created problems for Nadal and since his Health is directly tied to his profession as a tennis pro they tripped him up this month.

Now here's the funny thing. Robin Soderling has the exact same feng shui Stars working for him this year and this month, they're just reversed. So Soderling has the New Beginning/Conflict Stars on his Success meaning that he was bound to create controversy and at the same time launch his career in a new direction this month.

Then he has the Windfall/Abundance Stars on his Health direction this month which is a much better feng shui Star combination for winning if you're an athlete.

Crazy Women in the Media

Today was like a feeding frenzy for news about crazy women. The local news talked about Casey Anthony's trial for the murder of her daughter Caylee Anthony.

Right after that the Today Show talked about Bonnie Sweeten's elaborate (but not well planned) story about being abducted and kidnapped along with her daughter. Turns out Bonnie was just on a trip to Disney World with her daughter after fighting with her husband.

And then came the story about Sara Jane Moore's attempted assassination of former President Ford back in 1975.

What's with all these women? Well if you look at my blog from way back when you can read all about Casey Anthony and her feng shui ties to O.J. Simpson so I won't repeat myself here.

As for Bonnie Sweeten's feng shui it shows that any attempts at moving forward in her job or life this year are going to be met with conflict and arguments. This may be what triggered her to leave her husband this week unexpectedly and to steal and use a co-workers ID to try to cover her tracks.

The interesting part is that her Relationship direction has the star of New Beginnings which means that she and her husband had an opportunity to either a) make changes that moved their marriage in a new direction or b) decide that it's time to call it quits. But this new twist of running away, dragging her daughter into the middle of everything and then alarming the authorities on top of it means that her new relationships will be with attorneys, the law and possibly other inmates.

As for Sara Jane Moore who attempted to assasinate former President Gerald Ford back in 1975 she picked a really good year to carry out such an attempt because the feng shui Stars on her Success and Relationships were both tied to injury with sharp objects in Sept. 1975.

The problem was that her Relationship direction was also associated with lawsuits and she surely got that in spades. In fact the month she was sentenced her feng shui Stars created what feng shui masters call 'crazy women' Stars. Interestingly enough Sara Jane told Matt Lauer people called her 'a kook, an alien and a monster.' Sara Jane was sentenced to life in prison but was released back in 2007 after 32 years in jail.

Today 2 time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves was aquitted of tax evasion charges here in South Florida. The former 'Dancing With the Stars' Champ was charged last year with 6 counts of evading more than $2.3 million in with the help of his attorney sister.

But today with the help of his lawyer, the jury and great feng shui all but one charge, which resulted in a hung jury, were dropped. Castroneves was in tears.

So just how did his personal feng shui work for him? Well, this year Helio has the feng shui Cash Flow Star on his Success direction. This means he's likely to make a good deal of money this year through his career but it can also help you hang onto your money if someone wants to take it from you. In other words, your outcome will be successful for you.

No Breakdown for Green Day at Wal-Mart

Green Day's latest release 21st Century Breakdown has been given the thumbs down by Wal-Mart. They want the #1 selling album's language and content to be cleaned up before it goes on the shelves.

Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong says they won't change the album and since neither side is compromising you'll have to go elsewhere if you want to buy Green Day's latest hit CD.

It's no surprise Green Day is experiencing flack because the feng shui Flying Star associated with Conflict sits on their Success direction this year. That means their going to catch grief this year whether they do anything to provoke it or not. That's just the nature of the Star.

But the funny thing is this Conflict Star works nicely with the feng shui Flying Star tied to Windfalls on their Wisdom direction this year. This means the band's decision not to clean up their new CD was likely to come as an abrupt outburst that would create a windfall for them.

Feng Shui Robbery?

This past week my son came home from school and said, "Mom! My friend Matthew's house was robbed yesterday!"

The good news is that the family wasn't home so no one was hurt. The bad news is that they lost some valuable items and now feel quite vulnerable too.

When I heard about the robbery the first thing that came to mind is: I'll be their house faces East." (Whenever I hear good news or bad my mind always jumps to the feng shui of the situation.)

Sure enough. I looked up the address on Google and the front of the house does face east (it's the house with the red dot over it). This year the feng shui Robbery Star sits in the east meaning that homes and businesses that face this direction have an increased chance of losing money, being robbed, going bankrupt or having expenses drain away income.

On top of that another feng shui energy called The 3 Killings is in the East. When you combine the 3 Killings with the Robbery Star the negative energy is intensified. In other words, it's a bad combination and one you want to avoid if you can.

On top of that the house is at the end of a T-intersection. The road runs right into their house. This is bad feng shui design because it creates 'attack' energy for the home and the people who live there.

No More Jon & Kate (Plus 8)?

The two most troublesome personal feng shui numbers I've seen this year are people who are #2's or #8's and Jon and Kate are no exception. He's a 2 and she's an 8. Double whammy.

Rumor on the internet is that they're both cheating on each other and neither one wants to try to make the marriage work. It's expected that they'll announce they're getting a divorce soon.

It's too bad if that's the case. I've never seen their show but with 8 kids, her success as an author and who knows what else it has to be a struggle to keep the marriage thriving.

Whenever I see a situation like this I take a look at both parties Relationship directions to see what's going on there. This year Jon has the New Beginnings Star on his Relationship direction. If he and Kate were closer it could be a 'new beginning' to their relationship.

But for Jon it appears the 'new beginning' is with a 23 year old teacher he's suspected of having an affair with.

Kate's Relationship direction has the Illness Star on it. This means that people in her life are going to create problems for her that wear her down physically, mentally and even emotionally.

It also means she has to work harder to make her relationships work. Something she said she's not willing to do when it come to her marriage with Jon.

On top of that there is the Disaster Star that sits on middle aged men (age 30-60 in feng shui terms). Jon is 32 years old so falls right into that group. For him it appears that the disaster is the end to his relationship with his wife. It may become even more disasterous when it comes to an actual divorce.

In addition to that the Robbery Star sits on Families this year. In general this means families will experience a downturn in their finances, an increase in expenses or loss of money in some other way. It can also mean legal problems like divorce.

Put the troublesome feng shui Stars all together and it's easy to see why this year Jon & Kate may call it quits.

This goes to show you that it's important to take time to connect with your partner or spouse. Show them that you care, have a date night once a week and set up your feng shui to bring back the intimacy between you.

Drew Peterson, Feng Shui & Middle Aged Men

I don't know about you but the first interview I saw with Drew Peterson gave me the creeps. He was eerily calm about the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacey Peterson, and even had a smirk on his face when asked about her disappearance.

If you don't remember Drew he's the police office from Bolingbrook, IL who has been married four times. Drew went through nasty divorce from his third wife, Kathleen Savio, to marry his 20 year old mistress, Stacey.

Then in March 2004 Kathleen's body was found face down in her bathtub. Drew, still a police officer at the time, is the one who 'found' her. In Oct. 2007 his fourth wife, Stacey Peterson, 'disappeared' and has not been heard from since.

Kathleen's death which was initially ruled a suicide was re-investigated after Stacey disappeared. People thought there might be a pattern to Drew's ex-wife saga and started to raise questions about what really happened.

The authorities began to wonder too and decided to re-examine Kathleen's body. This time her death was ruled a homocide and Drew was arrested as the primary suspect.

His personal feng shui this year is ideal for legal problems and indictments. Let's start with his feng shui Success direction. This year he has the feng shui Conflict Star there meanining people are going to create problems for him and his success in life.

This month is the worst possible month for his Success because the Disaster Star is there as well. This can create major legal problems especially if you haven't been a model citizen to begin with.

Drew Peterson's feng shui Relationship Direction has the Star of New Beginnings for 2009. Interestingly enough Drew was engaged to be married again which is certainly a new beginning.

But making new friends in jail falls into that category as well.

This month his Relationship direction has the Conflict Star on it. When you combine this Star with the New Beginnings Star you can end up with lawsuits.

So this month Peterson has two directions (Success & Relationships) ripe for legal problems like being arrested.

The final straw for him is the Disaster Star that sits on middle aged men for 2009 and the Robbery Star that sits on this group of men for the month of May. This is a very negative feng shui Flying Star combination that can lead to major financial losses, violent robberies and other personal disasters.

Put all three pieces together in combination with his suspected murderous behavior and you get perfect feng shui timing for his arrest.

Well the Disaster Star that's plaguing middle aged men struck again today. Manny Ramirez, the 9 time Silver Slugger for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was banned from playing baseball for the team's next 50 games. He is also being fined 1/3 of his $25 million contract with the team too.

Ouch...

Though the drug testing board won't say what drug they found the news agencies are saying it's a drug linked to stimulating the body after steroid use has ended.

Looking at Manny's feng shui he has a couple of feng shui Flying Stars working against him. The first is the Disaster Star that sits on middle aged men. If you pay attention to the news you'll see there have been a lot of the stories about this group of men ranging from those who've been in the news for shooting their families to those swindling investor assets. And now another one for drug abuse.

On top of that this month the Robbery Star is on middle aged men this month. That means more men in this category will lose their jobs or experience financial loss. That's where the $8 million fine Manny has to pay comes in.

On top of that this same Flying Star combination sits on his Wisdom direction meaning the choices he makes this year are going to be life changing. But these changes don't have to be negative unless you choose badly or use poor judgment. Too bad Manny Ramirez didn't think of that this year.

The Secret Behind the Lawsuit Against Rhonda Byrne

Even if you haven't seen the movie The Secret odds are that you've heard about it or read the book. The success of this film that relied solely on viral marketing to get the word out about it has been phenomenal and made Rhonda Byrne, the film's creator, a wealthy woman.

But not everyone was exactly happy for Rhonda. In fact Drew Heriot, the film's co-creator, filed a lawsuit against her in April of 2008 saying she had not paid him the millions of dollars she promised.

I did some searching to find out more about the issue and came across the names of some other people who had been filmed for The Secret but did not appear in the final version of the film. Two of those people were Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks (http://www.hendricks.com/).

In an article Gay wrote for the Huffington Post he says that lack of integrity played a role in Rhonda's troubles. He and his wife wanted to show all aspects of the Law of Attraction while Rhonda's preference was to only focus on the positive side of it.

It was interesting to read this article because it ties into the 3 Lucks Feng Shui Masters talk about: Heaven Luck, Human Luck and Earth Luck. Integrity is all about using your Human Luck and apparently there were people who felt Rhonda's film was not created in that light.

What's even more interesting is to look at Rhonda's feng shui back in April 2008. When someone sues you or is angry with you it's a good idea to look at your Relationship and Wisdom directions to see which feng shui Flying Stars are sitting there because both of these areas will tell you 1) why you were sued and 2) whether you will be victorious in the end (assuming you know when the trial will be held).

At the time Drew filed the suit against Rhonda she had the Illness/Robbery Star combination on her Relationships (meaning her relationships were going to create stress and headaches for her and cost her money) and she had a Robbery/Conflict Star combination on her Wisdom direction (meaning her ideas were going to cost her money and could even bring a lawsuit). It's no wonder Drew filed the lawsuit at this time because the feng shui was perfect for something like this to happen.

The lawsuit hasn't gone to trial yet and may be settled out of court and this would be a good year to bring this problem to an end. The reason is that Rhonda has some decent feng shui Flying Stars on her Wisdom and Relationship directions this year. But ultimately it's going to create problems for her career.

If she waits until next year she will surely lose and lose big because the Disaster Star is on her Wisdom direction next year, the Fire Star is on her Relationship direction (meaning she will not get the support she needs to win) and the Illness Star will be on her Success direction creating cash flow problems.

Yikes!

Did this international fame and recognition that Rhonda gained from her movie have to turn out like this? No.

Well, American Idol is down to the final 3 contestants: Danny Gokey, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.

All three guys are incredibly talented and all three have their own style. Their Human Luck is probably about equal across the board.

But what about their Earth Luck (feng shui)? That's where the odds are clearly in one contestants corner. Let's take a look.

Danny Gokey is one of America's favorites. He comes across as a nice guy, has a great family and people empathize with the untimely and unfortunate loss of his wife to cancer.

Since people vote for the contestants each week the Relationshp direction is the one we want to look at when it comes to feng shui. Danny's feng shui for the year is certainly on his side. In fact he has the New Beginnings/Career Star on his Relationship direction.

But this month he has the Conflict Star working against him. Since the New Beginnings Star feeds the Conflict Star this means it will be harder for him to connect with the audience this month.

Then there's Adam Lambert, the Rocker. He's a natural on stage and people love him. But his feng shui is really tough this year and even more so this month because he has a Transformation/Robbery Star combination.

The Transformation Star has been great for Adam's relationships this year but it can also turn on him just as fast. On top of that the Robbery Star on his Relationship direction can mean that someone takes something from him this month, like the winning spot on American Idol.

So that leaves Kris Allen. Kris has a fabulous combination on his Relationship direction this month: the Windfall/Abundance star combination. Nothing could be better for a competition like this one.

The Feng Shui Behind Pakistanis' Troubles

We have a saying in feng shui that there are 3 kinds of luck:

Heaven Luck - also known as destiny or fate
Human Luck - your talents, skills, relationships, etc.
Earth Luck - where you live and your feng shui

Each area is 33 percent of your total luck and your Human and Earth Luck can be changed by you while it is believed that your Heaven Luck is fixed and unchangeable.

But if you are Pakistani it may not be as easy to change your life as it would be if you were an American. And since where you live makes up part of your Earth Luck your country can play a huge factor in the overall outcome of your feng shui.

Life in Pakistan has never been portrayed as a day in the park by newspaper accounts but this year is particularly difficult for the people of Mingora, Pakistan. The Taliban is moving into town and over 500,000 are expected to flee the city.

If you look at a wall map of the world you'll see that Pakistan sits in the Eastern part of the world. This year the feng shui Flying Star known as the Violence Star sits in the east meaning fighting and violence will be greater in that part of the world than usual.

On top of that the city of Mingora sits in the Northeastern part of Pakistan. This year the Conflict Star is in the Northeast meaning more arguments and disagreements are likey in this part of the country than other areas. The Taliban moving in to Mingora has certainly created a lot of conflict and hardship for the citizens of that city.

This month is particularly volatile for that area because the monthly Flying Stars in the east and northeast are extremely negative and powerful. The east has a Double Violence Star this month meaning it's quite possible we'll hear of deaths and violence as a result of the Taliban coming into town.

On top of that the Disaster Star lands in the northeast this month. When this Star hooks up with the Conflict Star it creates violent arguments, disagreement and disaster...all of which the citizens of Mingora, Pakistan are experiencing right now.

What's happening in this part of the world is a tragic example of the awesome power of feng shui. When you're experiencing a tough time in your life and negative Flying Stars come in they can turn your whole world upside down in disasterous ways.

Mickey Mouse, Kids and Feng Shui

Disney reported that their profits were down 46 percent for their fiscal second-quarter. I hate to tell them this but it's likely to get worse, from a feng shui perspective that is.

Here's why. This year we have two stars that are unfavorable for Disney. The first is the Illness Star which sits in the area of Children. For Disney the Illness Star can create anemic cash flow because their primary clients for their theme parks, DVDs, CDs, books, movies, etc. is children.

On top of that the Disaster Star sits in the area of the Rat this year. Mickey Mouse is not only Disney's icon but also the primary character people associate with the Disney company. The Disaster Star can bring about loss of money, bankruptcy and even 'death' of a company. It's not likely Disney will go under but they've got a rough year ahead of them.

If only they used Flying Star feng shui remedies in their parks and at their headquarters it would help them to reduce this energy quite a bit. That way the year would feel more like a speed bump than a head on collision.

This year Mother's Day falls on a perfect day in a terrific year...in feng shui terms that is.

In feng shui Motherhood is tied to the direction Southwest and in 2009 the Windfall Star sits on Motherhood all year long. This means more women can get pregnant unexpectedly this year or become mothers (or step mothers) this year.

During the month of May we also have the Long-Term Abundance Star in the Southwest. This combination with the yearly Windfall star can create emotional upsets so if you give your mom a sentimental photo or other gift don't be surprised if the tears start to flow.

This month the Illness Star sits in the heart of the feng shui ba gau meaning that Illness is the dominant theme for the country, businesses and households in May.

The Illness Star is the least negative of the four unfortunate feng shui Flying Stars but this month the energy is double. This means an increase in colds, flu, fevers and other illnesses for people all over the world. It also means that if you have an ongoing illness that isn't well controlled this could be a tough month for you health-wise so take care of yourself. If you're overly tired take a nap or go to bed earlier at night. If you need a day off take one. If you need to seek medical help then do it. This is the month to listen to your body when it tells you to slow down.

For businesses it creates anemic cash flow so it's not an ideal month to promote your products, advertise or launch a major sales campaign because the revenue you generate will not be as good as you'd like. Wait until a better month to promote your products or services.

Middle aged men, listen up. This is a year of transition for you. In the long run this transition will be beneficial even if it doesn't seem that way in the short-run. The Star that sits on you this year will create changes in your career meaning your odds of losing your job, changing jobs, or even starting your own business are much higher this year than usual. This is the year you want to stop and think about where your career is headed and what you want to do with the rest of your life.

The reason I'm telling you this is that it's important to know what the theme for the year is because May is going to seem a bit turbulent for you. The Robbery Star sits on middle aged men this month and since it combines with the Transition Star for the year it can bring about loss of job, loss of money, robbery and in an abrupt or even extreme way.

The other name for this Star is the Violence Star so it's quite possible we'll see an increase in violent crimes by middle aged men this month or even to middle aged men.

Just like when your weatherman predicts a storm you may never feel a drop of rain at your house. The same is true for feng shui Flying Stars. Not every middle aged man will be affected by them the same way it just increases the chances of being affected by them.

I've found that in most cases (like 80% of the time) YOU have to do something to trigger the negative stars. So if you're company is going under and you've been pretending everything is fine guess what...this is likely the month everything will come crashing down. If you work for a great company that has strong revenues then you may lose a dime on the way to work and that's the end of your experience with these stars. It all depends, which is why I recommend using the Time Feng Shui activations and cures each month to create the best possible energy for you.

Now let's look at middle aged women. This is a great year for you (you went through the energy of the Transition Star last year so you won't see it again for a while) and May brings the possibility of an unexpected financial windfall or opportunity for you. The only challenge you may have this month is mental stress due to people arguing at work or at home or relationship challenges.

Then yesterday the White House sent a Boeing 747 over New York City for half an hour in an unannounced photo op for the FAA scaring the citizens of New York and angering Mayor Bloomberg.

It's all to be expected this month because the center gua (which sets the global feng shui 'theme' for the month) holds the Conflict Star and the Star associated with flying. That means arguments, disagreements, lack of communication and even confusion when it comes to flying.

Can You Feng Shui to Ward off Pandemic Flu?

Every year there are new feng shui Flying Stars that affect all of us. The position of these stars paint a picture of what possibilities, opportunities and challenges lie ahead for us in the coming year.

About every 90 years the position of the Stars and feng shui elements (water, wood, metal, earth and fire) repeat themselves. When this happens you can look back to see what happened the last time this Flying Star/feng shui element combination occurred to give you an blueprint for what is possible again.

The last time we had the Flying Star/feng shui element combination we have now in 2009 was back in 1919. At that time one of the biggest challenges facing the world was the pandemic flu that killed more people than died in World War I.

It is the fear of another '1919 pandemic' that has world governments and World Health Organization worried about the Swine Flu these past couple of days. If you've done any reading on the government's preparation for another pandemic it's quite alarming. I won't go into that here because it's not the purpose of this article.

What I can talk about is the feng shui and what you can do about it.

Lots of people who read my articles are already practicing classical feng shui so what I'm about to say may seem over simplified. But more and more people reading this blog are not familiar with feng shui or only have a basic understanding of it so I would rather spell everything out than talk over your head and leave you out of the loop.

First, Feng Shui Masters consider life to be made up of 3 types of luck:

1. 33% is Heaven Luck - which is your destiny or fate. They believe this cannot be changed (tho Edgar Cayce and some other spiritual masters have said you can with hard work).

2. 33% is Human Luck - this includes your talents and skills and how YOU choose to apply them. It also includes your friends, family and other relationships. Your Human Luck is under your control and it's up to you how to apply it.

3. 33% is Earth Luck - Your Earth Luck is your environment, the country, state, city and neighborhood you live in and even the home you chose to live in. It also includes your feng shui.

Where you live and whether you choose to create an environment that supports you (your feng shui) is up to you as well.

So that leads us back to the current concern over a possible pandemic flu. Knowing that you have control over your environment you can use feng shui in combination with your Human Luck to support you in any situation.

In the case of a pandemic flu using your Human Luck would include taking care of yourself, eating foods that are healthy, drinking plenty of fluids, washing your hands, resting when you are not feeling well, having supplies on hand for possible illness whether that be homeopathic or over the counter remedies and staying away from people who are sick. You may have other ideas as well.

Additionally, use your personal protection meditation. Your body, like everything else on the planet, has an energy field around it. Use your personal protection meditation to help strenthen that energy field.

So that takes care of 33% of your luck.

Your feng shui remedies include identifying where the Illness Star is in your home and office for the year and where it is each month as well (there are both yearly and monthly Illness Stars). Once you know where those areas are make sure you place your feng shui remedies in those areas of your home and office to reduce the energy of this Star.

If you have a chronic illness, especially if it's not well controlled, DO NOT sleep or work in the area where the Illness Star is located as this could make your situation worse. Move to another room temporarily.

If your front door is where the Illness Star is located DO NOT use your front door. Come and go from the garage or back door instead. Most homes and office buildings have more than one door so take advantage of it even if it's a minor inconvenience.

The other Star you want to watch out for is the Disaster Star. This is the most dense (think school yard bully) Star and is not one you want to mess with. Do not sleep or work in rooms that have the Disaster Star on it. Do not use the door where the Disaster Star is located to come and go from your home or office.

And of course, get your feng shui remedy in place to reduce the energy of this Star. You cannot eliminate its energy completely but you can cut it back significantly and in my book that's a million times better than doing nothing at all.

Most people only think about their Human Luck but when you use feng shui PLUS your Human Luck you gain greater control over any situation in your life, including your health. Would you rather take charge of 33% of your life or 67%? Think about it.

Philip Markoff's Bizarre Feng Shui

This week the news of a deadly killer using Craig's List to find his victims tormented the residents of New England. The police identified a clean cut medical student as the suspected criminal/murderer in these cases shocking his school, his friends and his unsuspecting fiance.

What's even more puzzling is that Philip Markoff (notice the similarity to Madoff in the name?) has a great feng shui Flying Stars working for him this year. It's the Star of New Beginnings on his Relationship direction. He was planning to get married this year which ideally suits the energy of this Star.

This Star can also introduce new people into your life, like the victims of his crimes. It's unfortunate that he presumably chose to use the Star's energy this way because it could have been used in a very positive way for him this year.

But I think what tripped Philip up was the energy of 3 other feng shui Flying Stars and those are the Illness Star, Power Star and the Conflict Star. Here's what I see happening for him with these Stars.

First, the Illness Star is on his Health direction meaning he is more prone to mental, emotional and physical illness this year. Whenever the Illness Star is on your Health any disease you already have (whether diagnosed or not) is going to become more prominent to show you it needs attention. On top of that this month the Disaster Star combined with the Illness Star on his Health making it the prime opportunity for his illness to get noticed.

So far experts who have talked about Philip have said he displays all the usual signs of a serial killer. He probably displayed them before but the Illness/Disaster Star combination made these characteristics shine.

Next he has the Conflict Star on his Success direction. That means getting into arguments with people at work or experiencing roadblocks in your career.

We know that he also had a gambling problem. When you have an addiction like this it can be considered your career. We also know that the police think he beat his victims and killed the last one to steal money for his gambling debts which created obstacles for him this year and probably even arguments with those he owed money (you think)?

And finally he has the Power Star on his Wisdom direction. This Star is usually beneficial bringing about unexpected opportunities or windfalls but if you're power hungry and you want to show someone who's boss it can lead to destruction. Kind of like the police beating a guy to death for an expired driver's license. This month that Star's energy doubled and it looks like Philip used it to take his anger about his gambling problem out on these unsuspecting women.

It's sad that these women had to suffer at the hands of this man and it's just as fortunate that the police have been able to easily find so much evidence linking him to these crimes.

Illness Creates Problems for Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking was rushed to a hospital just north of London today after fighting a chest infection for the past several weeks. The 67 year old Cambridge University professor is best known for his research in black holes.

It's not surprising that Professor Hawking would be ill this month or even this year because the feng shui Illness Star sits on his Health direction for 2009. This month is particularly challenging because the Disaster Star for April joins the Illness Star in the Professor's Health direction.

Whenever Illness and Disaster Stars combine you need to be extremely careful, particularly if you are already in poor health. That's because this combination can be deadly. Let's hope he recovers from this event.

Andy Roddick Gets Married but Will it Last?

If you haven't heard already tennis star Andy Roddick married his long-time girlfriend and swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker yesterday at his home in Austin, TX. In addition to other celebrity tennis stars attending the ceremony Elton John sang.

Wish I could have been there!

My sister-in-law is getting married later this year and whenever someone is getting married I like to look at the feng shui to see if it supports or hinders the relationship.

If the feng shui is supportive then it's easier to get through the rough times in your marriage.

If the feng shui hinders the relationship then tough times can be really rough and separation or even divorce is more likely down the road.

In Roddick's case he has the feng shui Transformation Star on his Relationship direction this year. This star means that you let go of old relationships and make way for new ones and marriage is certainly a new relationship for him.

The challenge with this star is that it is two-faced and the other face is Disaster. This side of the Star can mean break-ups and in worst case scenarios even the death of someone you know. In fact, Mel Gibson shares the same personal feng shui and is going through a divorce this year.

This month the energy of the Disaster Star is watered down because the monthly feng shui Star is all about long-term commitments. So while it's the perfect month for Andy to get married it's a terrible year for him.

I hate to be a Negative Nancy but given the feng shui this year for Andy's Relationship direction I'd have to say the marriage will not likely go the distance. Next year would have been a tremendously better year for him.

Let's hope his Destiny and Human Luck kick in and turn the bad feng shui around for him.

Ryan's Got a Girlfriend

The tabloid (and regular) news is all abuzz about Ryan Seacrest having a new girlfriend. It's even more abuzz about Ryan admitting he'd be open to hooking up with CBS anchor Katie Couric.

Maybe they should do a Cougar show about that!

It's no wonder that Ryan met a new gal right now because his feng shui Relationship direction has the Transformation Star on it this month. That means making new friends as well as letting go of old.

But it's doubtful this relationship will last because the Transformation Star has a flip side to it: Disaster.

On top of that the yearly feng shui Star sitting on his Relationship direction is associated with having to work hard to make your relationships work for him. Given his schedule with Idol, the Top 40 show he does, all the travelling and other public events he's involved with even if he wanted to work hard at the relationship he probably doesn't have the time.

So what about his comment about Katie Couric? Well, Ryan's Success direction is associated with romance and older women so it's not surprising he would be interested in dating her. It could even be very beneficial for his career, particularly this year.

Susan Boyle: What a Voice!

Wow! If you haven't heard Susan Boyle sing you're missing out big time. She left the judging panel of Britain's Got Talent completely awestruck this week not to mention the rest of the world.

Even Simon Cowell was left with his mouth hanging down to his chin.

It's no wonder Susan decided to leave the security of her home and sing for the world. This year she has two FABULOUS feng shui stars working for her.

Captain Phillips' Rescue at Sea

Captain Richard Phillips is being hailed as a hero for his daring attempts to escape the Samoli pirates at see this past week. A combination of Navy expertise and sheer determination gained the Captain his freedom yesterday to the cheers of everyone I know and the relief of his family and friends.

I don't have the exact date of Capt. Phillips birth so I can't comment on his personal feng shui but I can tell you that opportunity for disaster on the high seas is much greater this year and especially for middle aged men like the Captain.

That's because the Disaster star sits in the area of the feng shui ba gua designated for water. It also happens to be the area tied to middle aged men and the middle son of the family.

Less than two months ago we saw another ocean disaster when two professional football players and their friends went out on a fishing trip and never returned. The boat capsized in heavy seas and one of the guys chose to stay with the boat. He was rescued three days later while the others have never been found.

I believe the reason Capt. Phillips experienced better fate than this is that this month there is a very favorable star sitting in the north with the Disaster star. Because of this the energy of the Disaster star is reduced considerably. That in combination with the Captain's sheer will to get free worked to his benefit.

But there are some months when incidents like this and accidents on the water will not turn out as well. July is one of those months so if you are planning a boating trip, a cruise or you know someone who works on the water tell them to take extra precautions in July.

Barrett Jackson's Flying Star

Every year the Barret Jackson auto auction takes place here in Palm Beach, Florida. Even though the event is less than 10 miles from my house my husband and I watch it on t.v. for fun.

This year like always the cars vary in make, model, style and price. You would think that since we're in an economic slump there wouldn't be too many people there but it's packed. Every seat is taken and there are lots more people walking around.

It's Not Always Fun to be Right

If you heard my Feng Shui Outlook for 2009 earlier this year one of the first things I talked about on the call was the increased possibility for fires, bombings, volcanic activity, plane crashes and earthquakes. The reason for this is the feng shui energy that sits at the heart of the planet for the year.

Since the new Feng Shui year began in February 2009 we've seen new volcanic activity in Japan and Alaska and increased activity in areas like Chile and other countries along the belt known as 'The Ring of Fire.'

We've also experiened more earthquakes with the most recent one occurring in L'Aquila, Italy but others have occured in Costa Rica, Indonesia and stronger quakes in California than usual.

The number of plane crashes has also been high. The most heroic of these was Capt. Sully's brilliant landing on the Hudson while the others ended tragically. There have been 17 plane crashes this year which is about 20% higher than this same period last year.

Fires occur year after year, particularly during the dry season but this year the fires will be even more devastating because they are more likely to impact on homes and families. The fires burning in Central Oklahoma are a perfect example of this.

The challenge is that the closer we get to July the more we will see this activity increase.

Dixie Chick Natalie Maines is known for her controversial style and words. And she's done it again this week with her controversial new haircut.

Good Guy Brian Dawkins

NFL star Brian Dawkins made a moving gesture this week when fan Dan Leone was fired from his part-time job with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dawkin's old team. Dawkins has since signed with the Denver Broncos.

Dan criticized the Eagles for letting Dawkins leave the Eagles and was let go from his part-time job as a seasonal game day employee. When Dawkins heard about it he gave Dan his tickets to the Broncos/Eagles game that will be played in Philadelphia later this year. A generous gesture from a generous guy.

The feng shui energy on Brian Dawkins' Wisdom direction this year makes him more thoughtful when it comes to other people than usual. That's because he has the Relationship Star energy on his Wisdom direction this year. Government Says, "Oops" to Stevens

Today the federal government did a 180 on the conviction of former Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens. Stevens was indicted in July 2008 and convicted of not reporting gifts he received from the VECO Corporation. But US Attorney General Eric Holder said the prosocution exhibited serious misconduct and is moving to have the conviction withdrawn.

Wow...I'm not Stevens, don't know him and don't know anyone who does know him but the word 'framed' comes to mind in a big way.

Regardless of what I think I wanted to see what his feng shui says about him.

Stevens had a tough star on his Relationship direction last year, the Illness Star. When you're in the public eye your Relationship star is the one to focus on because this will have the greatest impact on you.

The Illness star on Relationships means you have to try harder to get people to see your point of view, to hear you out and to relate to you. At the time Sen. Stevens was indicted the stars for the month and the year created major stress on relationships which would have made it extremely difficult to buck the charges.

Then in October he was convicted and at that time the stars created a combination that seriously weakened his career and relationships. Although this put a strain on his ability to win it shouldn't have prevented his attorneys from overcoming the charges. But the government had the Windfall star working for it combined with the Robbery star meaning that they could win by 'stealing' something from the other side.

And that leads us to today's announcement by the US Attorney General. It turns out that what the government did was withhold information from the defense. In a nutshell, they 'stole' information.

The timing of this news ties right in to this year's feng shui too. Stevens has the star of New Beginnings on his Relationship direction this year and this is tied to the Transformation star this month. It certainly is a major transformation that will bring new people into Stevens' life.

The government on the other hand has the Robbery star on it this year meaning they will lose a lot of things this year: money, connection with the public and yes, even lawsuits.

At least once a week I get a call or e-mail from someone who tells me they bought a book to set up the feng shui in their home but that instead of being helpful these books have left them feeling confused and frustrated. Just when they think they understand what the author is saying they read further and realize they have no idea what they’re supposed to do.

It’s unfortunate that their experience with feng shui has left them frustrated rather than enlightened but not surprising. Just because someone is known for being a good consultant doesn’t mean they are good at explaining what they do to others. That’s why Jim Cramer has a show on how to invest in the stock market (Mad Money) and Warren Buffet doesn’t.

So I thought we would spend our time today looking at some basics you need to know about feng shui in order to get the results you want easily and enjoyably.

The first thing you need to know are the directions in your home or office. When I say directions I mean north, south, east, west, northeast, etc. Directions are critical to classical feng shui and without them your feng shui activations won’t work. This is why so many people are unsuccessful with Black Sect, Black Hat, Western and New Age feng shui.

These schools, which were developed in the 1980s and 1990s, are based on the Law of Attraction and not on the principles of feng shui. If you’re good at using the Law of Attraction or your home faces north then you increase your odds of being successful with these modern schools of feng shui. If not your odds of success drop considerably.

The last thing you need to know is how to power up your feng shui with the best activation. In feng shui you have the option of using these three activations to get your energy moving:

The element for the direction will have the biggest impact. Your second best choice is color and lastly the shape. You can use one, combine two or use all three. It’s up to you.

So let’s say you’re a writer and you want to get your creative juices flowing more. Take a look at the west area of your office because this is the area associated with Creativity in feng shui.

The element for Creativity is metal so you could put something made of metal here. One of the colors for this area is white so you could use this color instead. Billionaire Cosmonaut

Dr. Charles Simonyi, a U.S. billionaire who helped create Microsoft, is headed to space for a second time in two years. Dr. Simonyi will be spending 2 weeks in outer space for the not-so-small price tag of $35 million.

Casey Anthony's Lucky Break

A friend of mine asked me to look at Casey Anthony’s feng shui and talk about it on my show this week. I've blogged about her feng shui here before but thought I'd look ahead to her trial. As I was pulling up her birthday and noticed that she has fabulous stars on her Success and Relationship directions this year. It looked eerily familiar to me so I pulled up someone else that I thought had these stars during their murder trial back in 1995: OJ Simpson.

There's a reason Casey is smiling. Her feng shui flying stars are identical to OJ’s during his murder trial: Her Success direction has the Long-Term Abundance Star on it and her Relationship direction has the Relationship star on it. This is an extremely fortunate combination and makes it virtually impossible for her to be convicted this year.

So then I looked at the stars for the Orlando prosecution team. My guess is that they aren’t going to have enough substantiating evidence to convict Casey because the Conflict star sits on the Wisdom direction this year and the Robbery Star (meaning loss) sits in the direction of Government. This says to me the prosecuting team will lose the case due to conflicting information or evidence or that they will lose due to conflict surrounding the evidence.

The months that really favor Casey are May, July, November and December. The only month I can see that the government has a chance of convicting her (assuming she's guilty) is June or maybe August.

Flying Star feng shui doesn't care who's right or wrong. It just creates positive or negative opportunity through timing.

Do-It-Yourself Not Always Best

Today I received an e-mail from a woman in the Midwest who purchased a feng shui system from another feng shui consultant to learn how to become a feng shui consultant herself. In her e-mail she said that she is no closer to understanding feng shui and is just frustrated and confused.

I was sorry to hear that the program wasn't working for her and at the same time not surprised. Think about a terrific mechanic you know, or accountant, or doctor, etc. Just because they're good at their job doesn't mean they're good at teaching others what they do. That's a completely different skill from their main profession and the two don't always go hand in hand.

Another challenge is that not everyone can write. I know a woman who is extremely successful in her consulting and she's written a couple of books. The writing is very technical, hard to follow and doesn't make sense. Yet when she talks she's very clear. There's just a complete disconnect between her written and spoken words. Needless to say her books have not sold well.

Then there's the issue of wanting to learn something professionally and wanting to learn it as a hobby. If you're going to take on a new career you need to know what you're doing and most books aren't detailed enough for that. There's just too much information to cram into a book that's only one or two hundred pages long.

If you're looking to learn feng shui in order to be able to do it for other people it's best to study with a feng shui consultant in person because you will learn considerably more, you will be able to ask questions, you'll get to hear other people's questions which will in turn help you and you'll hear more than you would if you tried to learn it on your own. You'll even get to practice what you learn which is even more beneficial.

Think about it. Could you learn massage from a book and become a professional massage therapist? Or study weather maps at home and become a meteorologist? No of course not.

Home study courses are great for learning a new hobby and for do-it-yourself projects, including feng shui. But to really understand it and be able to help other people its best to study with someone who can teach you the ropes.

Natasha Richardson's Passing

While skiing this week with her son at the Mont Tremblant ski resort in Canada Natasha Richardson took a fall during a ski lesson for beginners. She returned to her hotel complaining of a headache and was later taken to the hospital where she died yesterday.

It's a very sad story for an injury that medical doctors said should have been easy to resolve. However, sometimes recovery is not our destiny as was the case for Natasha Richardson.

You see, Natasha Richardson's health direction has the Disaster Star on it this month. Her health direction is also associated with the head indicating that injuries to the head were possible this month. And because the Disaster Star is the densest of all the negative stars it can also mean death as a result of head injury.

In addition to this Natasha has the Illness Star on her relationships for the year and this month she had the Windfall Star there. Windfalls are usually positive opportunities that come from out of the blue but when paired with a negative star it can mean the energy of that star affects you from out of the blue. With the Illness star there it mean illness from out of the blue.

Sadly, Natasha's Relationship direction is also tied to children and her out of the blue injury took place while she was on vacation with her son.

Could Natasha have prevented her death if she had known this information? Quite possibly because knowledge is power and knowing how to remedy these stars could just as easily have turned her death into a minor injury. If she had known a serious head injury could result in her death because of her personal feng shui she could have a) put up the feng shui remedy to reduce the energy of this star and b) worn a helmet while skiing.

What's Going On?

The past few days there have been three mass shootings: one at a church in Illinois, another in three cities across Alabama and almost at the same time one at a school in Germany.

All of the shootings resulted in the deaths of multiple people, all seemed to be pre-meditated based upon what the authorities have uncovered so far and all were committed by men in their 20s.

What in the world is going on here? Certainly the mental health of these three men comes into play and so does the feng shui for 2009. You've heard me say it before and I'll say it again-- feng shui is often the catalyst that triggers an event whether it's positive or negative.

If you're working hard to get a promotion and nothing is happening set up your feng shui and watch the opportunity land right in your lap. If you're planning a shooting spree and the negative Flying Stars land in the right spot you have the recipe for successfully carrying out disaster.

That's what I see in these three shootings. This year the Conflict Star sits on young men and the gunmen were all in their 20s. On top of that this month the Violence Star is on young men as well. The Violence Star means robbery, violent acts and it also includes guns and knives.

This combination is not usually so tragic but feng shui is only 1/3 of the equation. Human action and well being account for another 1/3 and the last 1/3 is destiny.

The sad thing is that we know for sure the gunman in Illinois had a history of mental illness. It may turn out that the other two did as well. Perhaps if they had been treated properly or diagnosed properly none of this would have happened. After all there are lots of other young men in the world who aren't shooting people this month despite the difficult feng shui.

The thing is that there are remedies for negative feng shui Flying Stars and those remedies are effective at putting out the fire in these stars. Maybe if more people used this information we'd be able to prevent more situations like the ones that happened this week.

Maryville, IL Shooting

An unidentified gunman shot and killed the pastor at the First Baptist Church in Maryville, IL this morning. So far they can't find any motive for the act but then again sometimes all it takes is the stars to be aligned just right for such a tragic event to occur. At least that's how it looks for now.

This month the two feng shui stars that could trigger such an event are linked together. The Conflict Star and the Violence Star are joined at the hip this month and standing right over Religion/Spirituality/Education. If we ever find out the killer's motive it's likely that it will turn out that he is angry with God or the pastor himself. Since the Violence Star is also linked to guns and knives this turned out to be the way this voilent conflict played itself out.

You may be wondering 'why Illinois and why this guy?' This month the double Disaster energy sits in the North and if you look at a map of the U.S. you'll see that Illinois is one of the Northern states. The north was also pastor Fred Winters' Health direction.

What may have triggered today, March 8, for this event is that the Violence and Disaster Stars sit on Religion/Spirituality/Education and the North for the day as well. It's like holding a bomb. All you need is a lighted match to set it off.

Whenever negative stars combine together the odds of a negative event tied to their energy increases dramatically. On the plus side the same thing happens when positive stars come together.

Michael Jackson's Final Comeback

Michael Jackson announced he'll be doing a series of concerts in London this summer then will retire from performing for good. So what does his feng shui outlook have in store for him?

Well, Jackson who is now 50 has a mixed bag of feng shui energy this year. On the plus side he has the Windfall Star on his Relationship direction meaning he could experience an opportunity or gain financially in an unexpected way this year. July is the ideal time for this Star to kick in because the energy is double that month.

At the same time he has the Illness Star on his Success direction meaning he'll have to work hard to make money in his work and even then the money is not likely to be as good as he expected. This energy is double in July too.

Since he has the Conflict Star on his Health direction he'll need to make sure he's up for a series of concerts. In the past his health has prevented him from touring not to mention the endless legal battles he's been involved in.

GM's Financial Woes

GM stock was down again and down big yesterday forcing the company to come out and say it may be forced into bankruptcy. The company will be 101 years old this year and it's feng shui energy is not good for 2009.

This year there is a Conflict Star on GM's Success direction and an Illness Star on it's Health direction. You may be thinking, 'How can a company have a Health direction when it's not a living thing?' Well the Health direction of a company relates to it's financial health.

This combination of Conflict and Illness is a tough one to overcome because this year in particular people will be against buying from GM even if they have the best product in the world and sustaining the financial health of an already run down company will be extremely difficult if not impossible.

Britney Goes to the Circus

Britney Spears is back in concert mode as of March 3. Her first 'Circus' tour stop is New Orleans and she picked the ideal month to go there. Her career feng shui isn't that great this year so picking the right month is critical to even moderate success with her live show.

During March she has a terrific feng shui combination on her Success direction with the Windfall and Career stars landing there. Her show will probably experience good reviews and high ticket sales. She even has a Windfall Star on her Relationship direction that will help her even more.

She can expect her show to do well through May but she may have some challenges with people who are in the show with her or tied to her tour somehow in April because she has a double Illness star on her Relationships that month. She could even have problems with her throat that prevent her from singing for a few days.

Where are Corey Smith & Marquis Cooper?

News came out today that 29 year old Detroit Lions Defensive Back Corey Smith and 26 year old Oakland Raiders Linebacker Marquis Cooper went on a fishing expedition in Florida on Saturday and never returned. They were with two other people.

Though search parties are looking for them chances are that they may not be found. Seas swelled to 7 feet Saturday night and they were only in a 21 foot boat.

This is a really bad year for Corey and Marquis to be on the water. Corey's Health direction and Marquis' Relationship direction both have the Disaster Star on it this year and that disaster is directly tied in to water. Anything water related this year including fishing and boating could mean death for both men.

The Disaster Star is the worst possible star in feng shui and it's not one you want to mess around with, especially if it's on your Health, Relationship, Success or Wisdom direction. This star brings transformation through upheaval, divorce, financial catastrophe, or even death.

In fact this star was on Casey Anthony's Relationship direction last year when her daughter, Caylee Anthony, died. A double Disaster Star was on John Travolta's Relationship direction when his son Jett died in January 2009.

Another wealthy financier swindles people out of billions. Too bad that line has become cliche'.

Allen Stanford didn't run a hedge fund. Instead he conned people into believing his CDs could generate unbelievably high returns and people believed him. Have we not learned yet that 'if it sounds too good to be true it probably is'? I'm beginning to question people's intelligence lately when it comes to finances.

But that's really not even the worst part. Now he's disappeared and no one can find him. Plus his feng shui is on his side this year.

Despite having the Conflict Star on his Success he has the fabulous New Beginnings Star on his Relationships and the Windfall Star on his Wisdom. This combination can mean that he gets a brilliant insight and convinces people who don't really know him but like his ideas to help him stay hidden from the world.

It wouldn't even be surprising if he conviced wealthy people or officials in the country he's hiding in that he can make them money. With the feng shui he has this year he can be quite convincing.

It may not be that difficult either since in addition to having U.S. citizenship he's also a citizen of Antigua/Barbuda. The funny thing is that if he's hiding out on one of these Caribbean Islands it would be the right place for him this year. These two islands are on the Eastern most side of the Caribbean string, right where the Robbery Star sits this year.

Salma Hayek Gets Married

Actress Salma Hayek and billionaire businessman Francios-Henri Pinault got married today after a rocky romance over the past several years. They already have a daughter together, Valentina Paloma.

It's makes sense that Francios would marry this month. He has the star associated with new opportunities coming from out of the blue on his Relationship direction.

Salma, on the other hand, has a tougher combination. She has the Illness Star for the year and the Robbery Star for the month on her Relationship direction. Not the best combination for starting married life together.

She even has the conflict star associated with long-term commitments on her Wisdom direction. Again, not the best combination for marriage.

This may be a tough year for Salma as a bride but Francios will fare better. Hopefully Salma will be able to get through using her Human Luck and feng shui remedies to support her.

It's that time of year again...Valentine's Day! Some of my less than romantic friends call it a Hallmark holiday, but I still like it.

If you're single and looking for Mr. Right you can start by placing a vase of peonies in the Southwest area of your home. If you can't get live flowers then place an image of peonies in a pink or rose colored frame instead.

Looking for Ms. Right? Place 2 stalks of bamboo in a vase or a bamboo plant in the Southwest instead.

One of my favorite things in the whole world is peanut butter and I have the waistline to prove it. So the news of Peanut Corp of America's salmonella outbreak was devastating and the stories about the deaths were heartbreaking.

And then came Stewart Parnell's testimony before the House panel yesterday. Or lack of testimony I should say since he kept invoking his 5th Amendment rights.

It's too bad Parnell owner of Peanut Corp of America didn't do the right thing when health tests reported salmonella poisoning the first time because this could have been a stellar year for him if he had.

Stewart Parnell has a terrific Flying Star combination on his Success and Relationships this year. Because of this he could have succeeded in entering into some very beneficial long-term contracts. In fact, he already had one with the U.S. Government and completely blew it.

Not only that he has the Relationship Star on his Relationship direction. This means people will support you and be there for you when you need them. Even if you really screw up the right people will be there to back you. This will benefit him during this crisis but it's too bad he didn't use the benefits of this star to help his business instead.

The Stars that really caught up with him this year were the Robbery Star on his Health direction and the Disaster Star on his Wisdom direction.

Putting these two together you get loss of money through health related problems (i.e. the salmonella outbreak) and very bad decision making...so bad, in fact, it cost him his business, his reputation and his livelihood. That's the Disaster Star working in full hurricane force for you.

Will Lance Armstrong Win Tour de France?

I joined Twitter a few weeks ago and found athlete Lance Armstrong tweeting there. It's been interesting reading his posts about his training and surprise visits from Anti-doping control.

With the Tour de France just a few short months away (July 4 -26) I thought I'd take a look at Armstrong's feng shui and see what his possibilities lie ahead for him.

July is a tricky month for him because the Flying Stars for the month match the Flying Stars for the year. That means his feng shui energy on his Success, Health, Relationships and Wisdom is double at that time.

This year Lance has the Conflict Star on his Success direction meaning that he's likely to get flack from his competitors even more this year than usual. People who do not like him or support him will be especially harsh in July. Expect name calling and more doping accusations to be hurled his way this month.

The Conflict Star on his Success may also mean that someone throws a monkey wrench into his efforts to win the Tour de France this year either before or during the race.

Another area you want to look at when you're looking at athletes is their Health direction. Lance has the Illness Star on his Health this year meaning he will need to rest more this year. During July the Illness energy doubles which could indicate unforseen health problems that come to the surface around race time or an injury that could prevent him from performing as well as he'd like.

Obama's Bad Picks

Another drop-out from the Obama Cabinet happened today. Senator Judd Gregg pulled his name out of the ring for the position of Commerce Secretary saying he couldn't support the new administration 100 percent.

No wonder because he has the Conflict Star on his Wisdom direction. That means that people may not be receptive to his ideas this year or that he's presented with ideas that conflict with his inner wisdom.

Gregg is the 5th person President Obama has had trouble naming to his cabinet this year and probably won't be the last. That's because he has the Robbery Star on Obama's Wisdom direction this year. That means his decisions are going to cost him in some way throughout 2009. So far he's spent it on political capital to get the stimulus bill passed AND on his picks for the new administration...and the year has only just begun.

On top of this the Robbery Star sits on the area of the feng shui bagua (pronounced bah gwah) that represents Government. Not only does that mean that the government stands to lose a lot of money or spend a lot more money this year than it takes in but it can also mean that it loses out in other ways --- like in talented people that could help the country.

All in all it will be a challenging year for President Obama in terms of his decisions and for all levels of the government: national, state and local. This challenging energy will peak in July so watch for even more difficult news about the economy or Obama's ideas about helping the country then.

On the upside we only have 11 more months to go.

How did SHE Get Picked?

If you're an American Idol addict like me you saw the baffling choice of contestants selected for this season's show.

The choice that got everyone's attention was the judges' decision to pass on Jamal Rogers, Danny Gokey's best friend, and instead go for Nick Mitchell (aka Norman Gentle the lounge lizard).

Even worse was the thumbs up given to Tatiana Del Toro the highly annoying contestant everyone has come to love to hate in two short weeks.

What were the judges thinking? Well, ratings are a factor so that probably had something to do with it.

But feng shui played a role, too. Looking at Nick Mitchell's feng shui I can see that he has the Long-term Abundance Star on his Success direction this year and the Relationship Star on his Relationship direction. This is a fabulous combination for career, networking, marriage and even signing long-term contracts. Even if he doesn't make the top 12 someone will offer him a great opportunity this year.

How about Jamar Rogers. Well, his feng shui is not so lucky this year. He has the Robbery Star on his Success and what's even more interesting is that people are saying he was 'robbed' last night in the final judging. Funny how the words show up to reflect the feng shui.

Jamar also has the Disaster Star on his Relationship direction meaning his friendships are likely to change this year and people may not be as supportive of him as he'd like. In this case the judges didn't support him.

Danny Gokey, Jamar's best friend, did make it through. He has the Conflict Star on his Success this year but the Career Star on his Relationship direction. He could easily be in the top 12 but there may be some controversy that comes up for him.

And then there's Tatiana. I couldn't find her exact date of birth but did find her age. If my calculation is right then she has the Windfall Star on her Success direction. I think we'd all agree that this is probably what kicked in for her this week.

She has the Illness Star on her Relationship direction which usually means that you have to work harder at your relationships or that your relationships wear you down. I think in her case she'll be wearing us down!

Nadya Suleman & her Octuplets

Nadya Suleman is best known as the mother of the octuplets born on Jan. 26, 2009. At first the world was astounded at the news of the birth of these babies.

Then a short time later they were appalled to hear she had 6 other children. And she is a single mother. And she is unemployed. And that she got pregnant through invitro fertilization.

Her mother spoke out saying her daughter was nuts and obsessed with having children.

Now the world is wondering whether Nadya's mother is right.

All of this conflict on Nadya's decision making ability and her mental health is coming at the exact right time. This year she has the Conflict Star on her Wisdom direction. People will be questioning this decision to have more children all year.

More than likely sometime between Nov. 2009 and early 2010 she'll be diagnosed with some form of mental illness because the Illness Star will land on her Wisdom direction next year. That is if she allows this kind of testing to be done.

Her relationship with her mother will continue to be strained this year as will her relationships with other people. If she wants support from people she's going to have to work at it this year. The Illness Star that sits in her Relationship direction makes relating to others, including her children, more difficult.

In fact caring for all these children could very easily make her sick this year given the Star that sits here. What's worse is that the Illness Star also sits in the Children area of feng shui meaning her children could be more sick than usual this year. It would not be surprising to find out that one or more of her new babies has a long-term illness since they were all born with into this energy.

On another note in addition to being obsessed with children Nadya is said to be obsessed with Angelina Jolie, too. You can't help but notice the similarity in their lips and hair and wonder if it's a coincidence or something else.

And then there's something even weirder. Jolie and Suleman have the same feng shui energy number.

More Fires to Come?

The wildfires burning in Australia have become the deadliest on record there with 84 people killed to date.

Because the Fire Star sits in the center of the feng shui bagua (picture a tic-tac-toe symbol with fire burning in the middle) we can expect more fires around the world this year.

Other likely disasters we can expect are more earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, bombings, and arson activity. These are all associated with the energy of the Fire Star. And because the Fire Star is in the middle no country is immune from its energy.

Dwyane Wade's Streak of Bad Luck

D-Wade, also known as Flash, Miami Heat Superstar isn't having as much luck off the court as he is on it.

His soon-to-be ex-wife, Siohvaughn, has accused the Olympian of adultery and infecting her with an STD. Lovely.

She also says that Dwyane, named Father of the Year in 2007, rarely sees his sons and has cut off financial support to them.

To top it all off he calls himself a devout Christian and says he chose the #3 because it represents the Holy Trinity. Just what I like to see. Another self proclaimed righteous church-goer who turns out to be a hypocrite. Too bad there's no shock value to this kind of story anymore.

Apparently his association with Mavericks High Charter Schools is on thin ice from all this bad publicity. They've taken his name off of the school and are re-thinking their relationship with him.

So why is a guy who had so much going for him for so long suddenly hitting the skids? Take a look at his feng shui and you can see it all.

First his Relationship direction has the Disaster Star on it this year and it's playing out for him this way already. His wife is speaking out against him and the Charter school has dropped him from their website with rumors that they're going to get rid of him all together.

If he had any sponsors waiting in the wings you can be sure they'll disappear this year.

On top of that he's likely to lose a lot of money this year either through his divorce (if I had Siohvaughn's birthday I could tell more), loss of sponsor contracts or spending it frivolously.

Starbucks Loses Taste Test

Move over Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts has better coffee. No suprise. I'm not a coffee drinker but my friends who are have been telling me this for years.

If Dunkin Donuts' coffee is so good why are we just hearing about it now? Well, to answer this let's look at Starbucks' feng shui first.

Starbucks' Success direction has the Disaster Star on it this year. The result for them could be that they continue to lose money and close stores OR they could go through a corporate transformation that benefits them in the long run. It's their choice and decisions they've made in the past year will ultimately determine which direction they go.

Even more troubling for the coffee chain is the Robbery Star on its Relationship direction. People have already cut back on their cafe lattes due to economic changes but the Robbery star indicates that these cut backs are likely to escalate. Expect Starbucks' revenue to drop even more this year which compounds the problem of the Disaster Star on their Success.

2009 is going to be a very tough year for Starbucks to say the least.

Dunkin Donuts, on the other hand, has much better feng shui this year. In fact they have the Long-term Abundance Star on their Relationship direction meaning their customers will be more loyal than Starbucks'.

They could also get sold (again) with the buyers making the current owners (Thomas H. Lee Partners, Carlyle Group and Bain Capital LLP) an offer that's very good over the long run.

On top of that the Relationship Star sits on Dunkin Donuts Success direction meaning more customer support for their success and great relationships with vendors, suppliers, investors and potential interested buyers of the company.

Since 2010 will bring a loss of money and conflict to Dunkin Donuts (the feng shui energy changes from year to year) they should enjoy their success while they can.

A-Rod and Steroids

Alex Rodriguez, star baseball player, was accused of steroid use this week after claiming publicly that he never used them. Apparently a random drug test from 2003 proved otherwise.

Back in 2003 A-Rod had a Conflict Star on his Health direction and the Long-term Abundance Star on his Wisdom direction. For him this combination created a health decision that would create problems for him in the long run. It caught up to him this week and it's no wonder it happened this year.

In 2009 Alex has the Conflict Star on his Relationship direction. This means that people will create challenges for him whether it be friends, family, teammates, sponsors or drug testing officials. This star will affect him all year long whether he likes it or not.

On top of that this month isn't even the worst of it for him though it may cause problems with any contracts he's signed or was about to sign. In July the conflict energy doubles for him then doubles again in November. In fact the spotlight could be particularly strong in November.

Expect more of this for Jessica this year because the Disaster Star sits smack on her Success direction in 2009. Poor girl.

Not everyone has to experience this star as a literal Disaster but when you've been 'lying down on the job' or haven't put forth your best efforts in the year leading up to a Disaster year then this is how it will play out for you as it has for Jessica.

Barack Obama had the Disaster Star on his Success direction last year but his best selling book, all his political networking, and clever marketing made 2008 a year of transformation for him.

What's even worse for Jessica is that the Robbery Star is on her Relationship direction. For her this means that people may not be willing to spend their money on her movies, music and concerts as they have in the past. Real Estate and Feng Shui 2009

Are you looking to sell your home this year? Pay attention to the Flying Stars feng shui before you put out your For Sale sign.

First, draw out your floor plan or use a copy you already have on hand. Next, put a tic-tac-toe symbol over it and label N, S, E and W. This is a quick way to set up your bagua. Each square created by the tic-tac-toe symbol you drew is called a 'gua.' Look to see where your front door is located on your floor plan and this will tell you what gua it is in.

From a feng shui perspective you're odds of selling this year are best if your front door is in the Southeast or South gua of your home.

What about Southwest? You're house may sit with no activity then WHAM! a buyer shows up out of the blue.

Be open to lease-to-own or rent-to-own options if your front door is in the Northwest.

If you're a realtor you'll sell more homes with front doors in the SE, S, SW and NW this year than others you have listed.

If your front door is in the East you will probably lose a lot of money on the sale of your home if you do find a buyer.

If your front door is in the Northeast be aware that disagreements with the buyer over the terms of the sale or details in the contract are extremely likely.

West front doors can bring sellers stress. You may even have difficulty in getting people who say they want to buy your home to actually put down a deposit.

Is your front door in the North gua of your home? You'll be lucky to get your home sold this year at all. This is the worst possible direction for 2009.

What does President Obama's feng shui say about what's in store for him for 2009?

You'll be happy to know that it's all good. President Obama's Success direction is South. Last year he had the Transformation Star on his success and it's exactly what he experienced in his career going from Senator to President Elect.

This year the Relationship Star sits on his Success direction. This will make it much easier for him to relate not only to Senators, Congressmen and the public but also to foreign leaders too.

In addition to that he has the Long-Term Abundance Star on his Relationship direction. That means it will be easy for him to create long term relationships with foreign allies and even possibly strike peace agreements with countries that have been less than peaceful to one another.

U.S. Airways Flight 1549 and Feng Shui

Today a U.S. Airways pilot Chelsey Sullenberger made an amazing emergency landing in the Hudson River after birds apparently flew into both engines. Everyone on board was rescued safely and the ex-Navy pilot was rightly hailed a hero.

After reading this story I took a look at the feng shui for the NE part of the country. The feng shui stars for 2009 don't officially land in their new positions until Feb. 4, the first day of spring on the Chinese calendar. But, like the flu, you can feel their effects before they become full blown. This looks like the case for the US Airways flight.

In 2009 the energy called Tai Sui sits in the NE. Tai Sui is associated with law suits, loss of money, health problems and major accidents. A home or office that faces Tai Sui will have a really tough year.

Tai Sui doesn't just affect homes and offices. It also affect the region of the country where it sits. This year that's the NE.

On top of that, this month the Fire Star sits in the NE. The Fire Star is linked to birds and flying.

Looking at this feng shui combination you can see that Tai Sui combined with the Fire Star to create the 'freak' accident on U.S. Airways flight 1549. Even more freaky is the fact that Sullenberger's Success direction is NE meaning that Tai Sui and the Fire Star would affect his career...and it did BIG time.

Fortunately, the yearly Relationship Star is also in the NE right now. This explains how they were able to get help so quickly and save all the passengers.

Is Life Treating You Like a Doormat?

Here's something you probably never thought about: Is life treating you like a doormat?

If so, take a look at your front entry and see what's going on there.

Most people who hire me to do feng shui consultations don't even have a door mat. This is like saying, "No one is welcome here. Go away."

Other people have doormats that have been well used. But now they're ragged, torn or shabby. Since your front door is the Mouth of Ch'i (the main location that energy enters your home) and old, worn out doormat can bring 'tired' ch'i (pronounced chee and meaning energy).

What if you have a doormat with your family name or initial on it? Well, people walk on doormats so it's like inviting people to 'walk all over you' and your family. If you're feeling like people are taking advantage of you this may be your problem. The same goes for doormats with your company name or logo.

The ideal doormat is one that is plain or that says Welcome on it (since you want to welcome new energy and people who's company you enjoy into your home).

Another thing to consider is where you're front door is located. If it's in the South, consider placing a red doormat here. If it's in the North a blue one will work well. Is your door in the West? Get a metallic colored doormat or one with circles on it? Using the color associated with the location of the door will help to support that 'gua' (area) of your home.

You can fine tune it even more by using the color associated with the Flying Star at your front door for the year. For example, my front door is in the South. Beginning Feb. 4, 2009 the Relationship Star sits in the South so I selected a blue (water) striped (wood) doormat that will support the wood energy of that Star for the year.

Since the Flying Star on your front door changes every year it's a good idea to get a new doormat every year. Think of it as starting with a clean slate.

Flying Stars for January 2009

The chart above shows the Flying Stars energy and locations for January.

The challenging guas outnumber the beneficial guas this January. So it's still more of a yin (passive energy) month.

If you draw an outline of your office or home floor plan and then put a tic-tac-toe symbol over it you will have the bagua for your building. (There's actually a little more to it than this but in general this will work for you.) Once you have this you can label the directions so you know which energy will affect the different guas of your office or home.

The easiest way to activate the positive guas is to keep these areas busy. Have the kids play here, hold meetings in this area of your office and if your front door is in a positive gua that will stir up the energy, too.

You can reduce the effects of the negative guas by keeping these areas quiet. If possible, don't use these areas at all because the more activity you have here the more you will stir up the energy that will create the challenges you see here in the chart.

For example, if your main door is in the East try to use it as much as possible this month to attract positive opportunities and good fortune. If your front door is in the Northwest it's better if you use a different door to come and go from your home or business to avoid losing money or having people steal from you.

An easier way to activate the beneficial guas and cure the negative ones is to place your feng shui activations and cures. That way you don't have to worry about whether you need to be in or avoid certain rooms each month.

Jett Travolta's Feng Shui

John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s family vacation came to a sad sudden ending today when their son, Jett, died.

Jett had Kawasaki’s Disease which causes inflammation of the heart’s artery walls. This can result in heart problems if left undiagnosed or untreated for too long.

John Travolta talked about his son’s illness on Larry King Live some time ago saying that he thinks Jett contracted this disease when he was very young. John, confessing he may have been overzealous in keeping the house clean, said they had the carpets cleaned regularly. Chemicals in carpet cleaning are suspected to be a possible cause of Kawasaki’s Disease in young children. John told Larry that it’s like having a metallic chemical in your immune system.

I had to look into Jett’s personal feng shui to see if there were any indications of his death this month. There were.

The annual Flying Star on Jett’s Health direction (NW) is the Illness Star. This star is particularly hard on people who have challenging illnesses or diseases that can be life threatening.

In addition to that the Flying Star coming into Jett’s Health direction in January is the Robbery Star. This Star doesn’t officially ‘land’ there until Jan. 5, but its effects can be felt up to 9 days beforehand.

This combination of Illness for the year with Robbery for the month creates fire energy. Fire on your Health direction can mean heart problems and Jett had a heart disease.

Additionally, the Robbery Star is a ‘metal’ element and Jett’s immune system was contaminated with a metallic chemical triggering the negative Illness/Robbery star combo on his health even more. This was a really harsh combination for Jett’s health given his physical condition.

John Travolta’s feng shui indicates that this would be a tough month for his relationships. For the year he has a Disaster Star on his relationships. Most people will experience this as a loss of a friendship, a divorce, or a shifting of the kinds of people you associate with. But this star can also mean death of a friend, colleague or family member. This is the same star Casey Anthony had on her Relationship direction last year.

The Flying Star on John’s Relationship direction for the month is the Illness Star. Combine the Illness Star with the Disaster Star on your Relationships and you can end up with the death of a loved one due to illness. This is unfortunately how it turned out for John Travolta and his family.

Looking at Flying Stars feng shui and your personal feng shui you can get clues about what possibilities lie ahead, both positive and not so positive.

Fire and Ice This Winter

Of course there's massive snow in the Northeast. Anyone familiar with Flying Stars feng shui could see this coming.

Dec. 7 through Jan. 5 the Water Star is in the Northeast. This time of year (winter) means the water will be in the form of snow and ice. The peak of this cycle was Dec. 22, just after the winter storms hit the Northeastern part of the United States.

Next month the Water Star will be in the South meaning that the Southern states (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma) could experience greater snowfall than usual particularly since the Disaster Star is in the South from Feb. 2008 until Feb. 2009. Watch for news of major pileups and other disasters in that part of the country.

This also happens to be the time of year for flu outbreaks. The Illness Star for the year is in the Northwest but the monthly Illness Star is in the South. The outbreaks may begin in the South this month but be stronger in the Northwestern states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho)next month when the Robbery Star lands there to combine with the Illness Star leaving people feeling 'robbed' of their health.

High fevers are a worry from Jan. 6 to Feb. 3 for people living in the Northwest, too, because the Robbery/Illness Star combo creates fire energy and the NW represents the head. Fire in the head indicates high fevers.

Disasterous events indicated through feng shui

Two prominent children appeared in the news this week. First, Caylee Anthony’s body found in the woods near her home and a few days later Adam Walsh’s killer identified. There is a feng shui link that these two children share.

First let’s look at Adam Walsh. This little boy was 6 years old when he was taken from a mall in Miami, FL and murdered by Ottis Toole. When I looked at the birthdays of Adam and Ottis I found that they both have the exact same energy number.

Back in 1981, the year Adam was killed he and Ottis both had Conflict stars on their relationship direction for the year. The month Adam was murdered he an Ottis both had Disaster stars on their Relationship direction. This combination of conflict and disaster energy ended up sealing both Adam and Ottis fate that July.

When you have conflict and disaster on your relationship direction at the same time it usually means a big argument or blow up of some kind. This energy can bring an end to a relationship and even though Adam didn’t know Ottis the kidnapping created a relationship between them – one that turned deadly.

Caylee Anthony has a different energy number than her mother yet they both have personal feng shui that when combined paints a picture.

Caylee’s relationship direction has an Illness star on it for 2008. The Illness star is also associated with Mother energy and since it was on her relationship direction it indicates Caylee would have an unhealthy relationship with her mother this year.

Casey Anthony, Caylee’s mother, has a Disaster star on her Relationship direction meaning something disasterous could happen with one of her relationships. The way this played out for her was the death of her daughter.

During the month that Caylee was killed she had a Conflict Star on her relationship direction. This Conflict star for the month with the Illness star for the year creates what’s called bullfight sha or arguments.

That same month Casey Anthony had the Windfall star on her relationship direction indicating something disasterous would happen to her relationships out of the blue. Looking at Caylee and Casey’s energy at that time I would guess that if Casey did kill her daughter it’s likely that it was in a fit of rage and this rage sent her over the edge unexpectedly resulting in her daughter’s death.

But why would Caylee’s body and Adam Walsh’s killer both be discovered at the same time this past week? For that we can look at the feng shui energy for the state of Florida.

For the year Florida has the Fame star on it meaning that events that happen here will bring national or international attention sometime during the year. Both Caylee and Adam Walsh’s cases are certainly high profile events.

The timing of the discovery of Caylee and the identification of Adam’s killer has to do with the Windfall star landing in the SE during December. This star means that some unexpected event will happen out of the blue. Caylee Anthony’s body was discovered unexpectedly in the woods by a utility worker and the news that Adam Walsh’s killer had been positively identified also came unexpectedly.

Most people think that feng shui is about decorating your home. But the more you know about feng shui energy the more you can use it as a tool for other things, like explaining past events and being aware of future challenges and opportunities.

How December's feng shui can affect you

December's Flying Stars are more balanced than last month, but is still on the yin side. The bagua above shows the feng shui energy and locations for December.

The guas (or squares) that will affect you the most are those that are tied to your Personal Best Directions, the one where your bedroom is located, the one where your office is located and the one where your main door is located.

The challenging guas and beneficial guas are more even this month. But it's still more of a yin (passive energy) month.

If you draw an outline of your office or home floor plan and then put a tic-tac-toe symbol over it you will have the bagua for your building. (There's actually a little more to it than this but in general this will work for you.) Once you have this you can label the directions so you know which energy will affect the different guas of your office or home.

The easiest way to activate the positive guas is to keep these areas busy. Have the kids play here, hold meetings in this area of your office and if your front door is in a positive gua that will stir up the energy, too.

You can reduce the effects of the negative guas by keeping these areas quiet. If possible, don't use these areas at all because the more activity you have here the more you will stir up the energy that will create the challenges you see here in the chart.

For example, if your main door is in the Southeast try to use it as much as possible this month to attract an unexpected opportunity or windfall. If your front door is in the Southwest it's better if you use a different door to come and go from your home or business to avoid losing money or having people steal from you.

An easier way to activate the beneficial guas and cure the negative ones is to place your feng shui activations and cures. That way you don't have to worry about whether you need to be in or avoid certain rooms each month.

Airport Robbed by Flying Stars

Did you happen to hear about the anti-government protesters that partially shut down the Bangkok airport last week? It was kind of an obscure article on the CNN News this week but what made it jump out at me was the fact that an aviation expert said that this protest was another of the long list of problems that had plagued the terminal since it opened 2 years ago. Apparently it almost collapsed when it opened and there’s a laundry list of other really horrendous issues with the airport that never seems to end.

For me that screamed BAD FENG SHUI, especially since these problems have been going on since the beginning. So I had to look at the layout of the terminal and the administration building. Thank goodness for Google maps because they make it really easy for me to do this kind of work.

As it turns out the building and terminal face about NNE and since it was built in 2006 that puts a Robbery star on Relationships and health and another one on money.

Whenever I go to a clients house that has this combination on it I know that money has been a real struggle for them and that their marriage is on the brink of divorce because the double robbery star robs you of everything money, relationships, health, friends – pretty much whatever you can think of this combination steals it right out from under you.

So that’s what’s happening with the Bangkok airport too and you want to know the worst part about it? This combination is pretty much impossible to cure. You can reduce its effects but its robbery will continue to steal from you as long as you live or work there –just to a lesser degree. The best solution is to move or to hire a contractor and move your door to a better location.

If you happen to know anyone in administration at the Bangkok airport tell them my advice is to move their front door. If they could turn the entire airport that would be even better but that ain’t happenin’ I’m sure.

This also brings up another point. If you’re looking to move to a new home or into a new office make sure you get the Flying Stars feng shui checked out on it FIRST because if they’re bad, like the Bangkok airport, then you’re pretty much screwed from day one.

Southern Exposure

For the past several weeks I've noticed more and more businesses closing up shop in the strip malls around town. The other thing I've noticed is that the majority of the stores that have closed their doors have front doors that face south. Why is that? Well, this year the Disaster Star sits in the south and this star is associated with unexpected upheaval, bankruptcy, and in the case of a business it can mean the end of your business/closure.

I drove by several strip malls that had stores facing different directions and while there were stores that had gone out of business in all the directions between 60 and 75% of the stores that had closed in each strip mall faced south.

Now, if you have a business with a door that faces south does that mean you're going to go bankrupt? Of course not, but in a year when the Disaster Star sits on your front door the odds go way up.

Paula Goodspeed's Extreme Feng Shui

You probably heard about the very unfortunate incident that took place outside of Paula Abdul’s home this past week.

An obsessed fan by the name of Paula Goodspeed pulled up in front of Abdul’s home and committed suicide. Goodspeed’s body was found in her car.

This was such a shocking event and so tragic for not only Paula Goodspeed’s family but also Paula Abdul that I had to take a look at their personal feng shui for the month to see if there were any clues in the Flying Stars and sure enough, there were.

Paula Goodspeed was 30 years old when she died and the energy on her personal best directions this month helped to fuel her mental illness even more.

I should tell you that the Flying Stars energy on your 4 best directions doesn’t mean that terrible things will happen or even that great things will happen when the Flying Stars are positive. These Stars only provides fertile ground for possibilities, both positive and negative to occur, depending on whether their energy is favorable or unfavorable.

If you’ve already taken steps to create certain situations or attract specific people into your life then the Flying Stars energy is much more likely to set things in motion for you.

Looking at Paula Goodspeed’s 4 best directions I see a lot of heavy negative energy for her this month. Her Relationship direction has a Double Illness Star on it this month and it happens to be in the Northwest, which is rules the head. Whenever I see this I tell people to watch for headaches or injuries to the head. But it also means mental illness.

Since Goodspeed was already considered mentally ill the Double Illness star just compounded the situation for her, literally bringing the problem to a head (no pun intended). And since it was on Her Relationship direction the mental illness was destined to affect her Relationships, meaning her family and the relationship she believed she had with Paula Abdul.

On top of that her Success direction has a Star combination that is associated with arguments between women this month. If she had tried to contact Paula Abdul it is likely that she would have been denied access and Goodspeed would have been angry about it.

And lastly, and most sadly, Paula Goodspeed had a combination Disaster and Robbery star on her Wisdom direction. The Robbery Star usually means something is taken away from you but it also represents small weapons like guns and knives. The Disaster Star usually brings very difficult challenges to people that lead to some kind of transformation but it can also mean death as it did for Goodspeed.

This combination of small weapons and death on her Wisdom direction indicates that she would make a decision that would cost her her life and it did.

But how does Paula Abdul’s feng shui factor into all of this? Well, Her Relationship direction has the Windfall Star on it in November. The Windfall Star means something lands in your lap out of the blue and since it’s on her Relationship direction it would come through someone she knows. The suicide outside her home was certainly unexpected and it came through her relationships because Goodspeed was an unwelcome fan who had stalked Paula for years. Paula knew exactly who she was.

Additionally Paula Abdul has a Star combination on her Health direction this month associated with Bad luck. This would indicate that Paula is likely to be affected by this event mentally and emotionally for some time to come, which is quite understandable.

She also has a star combination on her Success direction this month that brings mental stress and a feeling of emotional overload.

On top of that Paula’s front door is in the Northwest and this month the Northwest is tied to mental illness. It’s no wonder that Goodspeed, who was mentally ill, would take her own life at Paula’s front door.

When you look at Paula Goodspeed’s feng shui challenges with mental health and disasterous decisions for her life combined with Paula Abdul’s personal feng shui of mental and emotional stress out of the blue through her Relationships, in this case a fan of hers, you can see how their personal feng shui ties together.

I happen to know that Paula Abdul uses feng shui in her home because I know her feng shui consultant personally. My understanding is that she does not use Time Feng Shui. Although she could not have prevented the tragedy that happened this week knowing how to cure the negative stars in her personal best directions could have kept it from happening in front of her home which would have helped reduce the impact this event has had on her.

Now, there many other people in the world with Paula Abdul and Paula Goodspeed’s same personal best directions and they didn’t experience suicide or have someone kill themselves on their front doorstep.

That’s because feng shui is a catalyst that allows events that are already in play to unfold. Imagine wanting to grow a beautiful tomato plant with lush ripe tomatoes. You’ve prepared your garden and suddenly a wonderful rain shower comes in to water your garden. If you don’t have any seeds planted then no amount of rain is going to produce a tomato plant. Politics and The View

The other day I turned on the t.v. and on almost every station they were talking about the argument between Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar over Sarah Palin. Elizabeth is a staunch supporter of McCain while Joy is solidly in Obama's camp. What a contrast to this photo of happier days!

That made me wonder what their personal feng shui looked like for October. I almost fell out of my chair when I discovered that Elizabeth shares the EXACT SAME personal energy number as McCain and Joy shares the EXACT SAME personal energy number as Obama. No wonder they can't agree with each other or even agree to disagree.

Of the two Elizabeth has been catching the most flack for her remarks and behavior much like McCain is catching the most flack for his negative campaigning. Their personal feng shui for October says it all.

This year the Disaster Star sits in Elizabeth's Relationship direction. The same goes for McCain. That means that getting people to support you is going to be a real challenge.

On top of that during October the Relationship Star lands in their Relationship direction as well. Normally, the Relationship Star is beneficial but when you combine it with the Disaster Star for 2008 you get hostile, angry relationships. It doesn't matter whether you're right, you're wrong, you're nice or you're mean -- people are not going to be receptive to you. And clearly, that's what Elizabeth and McCain are experiencing this month. Too bad they don't know feng shui.

Britney's Bad Feng Shui

The poor girl just can't get a break. Legal problems seem to follow her like a black cloud lately and now a jury is deciding whether Britney Spears should go to jail for driving without a valid license.

The feng shui energy on her Relationship direction this year says it all. Britney's Relationship direction happens to be West and in 2008 there is a Conflict Star sitting smack dab on top of it.

On top of that, during the month of October there is an Illness Star in the West, too. When you combine the Conflict Star with the Illness Star you get something called 'Bullfight Sha' or fighting energy. The biggest arguments to watch for are between mothers and sons but it can affect anyone.

When this energy is on your Relationship direction you want to 1) make sure you get your monthly and yearly feng shui cures in place because this will cut the energy back significantly and 2) avoid confrontation and arguments because the negative energy here will just add fuel to the fire.

The other challenge Britney faces with the timing of the trial this month is that there is another Conflict Star in her Wisdom direction that mixes with the Relationship Star for 2008.

This indicates that she may be hostile to the advice she's getting from the people around her or that people around her (the jury) may be angry about her lack of judgment about driving without a valid license.

When you have bullfight sha and relationship conflict you don't want people to be deciding your fate in court. You also want to take control of this energy rather than let it control you.

By the way, do you want to know why her career and marriage hit the skids back in 2003? Her Success and Partnership areas are missing in the house she bought in Beverly Hills at that time. Not too long after she moved in her both her marriage and career started falling apart and she hasn't been able to recover.

She just put the house up for sale so hopefully she'll pick a better house next time.

Was feng shui his own worst enemy?

Christian Slater, Harvey Keitel and Dennis Hopper are all making career comebacks this year with the start of the new television season.

Christian has been out of the Hollywood scene for about the past 10 years. It was August 1997 when his addictions to drugs and alcohol peaked his problems with the law when he was arrested for an attack on his girlfriend and sentenced to rehab and probation.

At that time his personal feng shui wasn't working in his favor. His Wisdom direction, which is assoicated with learning and making wise decisions for yourself, had an Illness star for the year and a Disaster star for the month of August.

This combination inflates and magnifies health problems (mental, emotional and/or physical) that already exist. The result is that your health can get out of control to the point that you have to face the problem head on and deal with it.

On top of that his Health direction had a Robbery star for the year and a Conflict Star for the month. A Robbery/Conflict combination almost always means legal problems and, as it turns out, Slater was arrested and sentenced for his behavior.

It's no wonder no one wanted to touch him with a 10 foot pole. But time has a way of erasing people's memory --- and changing your feng shui.

This year he has a much better combination working for him with the Fame star on his Wisdom direction, the Leadership star on his Success direction and the Long-term Abundance star on his Relationship direction.

But October is not the best month for his new show, My Own Worst Enemy, to make its debut. This month there is a Disaster Star on his Career and a Robbery Star on his Relationship direction. So while it's a good year for him to make a comeback it's a really bad month to launch his new show. September would have been much better and so would November.

Forensic Feng Shui: OJ Simpson

OJ Simpson was convicted of kidnapping and armed robbery 13 years to the day after his first trial.

When I looked at OJ's best directions and the energy there for 2008 and for 1995 I could see why he was convicted this time and not for the double murders.

OJ Simpson's Success direction is SW. Back in 1995 the Flying Star on his Success direction for the year was Long-Term Abundance. This is a very powerful star on it's own. Additionally, at the time of his conviction the Prosperity Star landed in the SW, too.

This combination of long-term abundance with prosperity meant that no harm could come to him and that he would be assured of success. In this case, successfully winning his trial.

He also had an extremely powerful star combination on his Relationship direction. The annual Relationship star was in the west that year and at his trial the Unexpected Windfall star landed in the west. This means that you're relationships are going to bring you some kind of unexpected benefits.

Between the positive stars in his Success and Relationship directions for the year and for the month there was no way he could lose. In feng shui there is no judgement between right and wrong, there is only energy. And OJ had the best possible energy working for him at that time.

Now, when I look at his energy for 2008 I see something completely different.

This year the Robbery star is in his Success direction and Robbery means a loss of somekind. Interestingly enough, it is also associated with small weapons and Simpson used a gun in his robbery attempt in Las Vegas.

On top of this the monthly Robbery star landed in his Success direction, too. Double Robbery assures you of some kind of loss. And since it is on his Success direction it means losing his court case.

He also has a double Conflict star for the year and for the month in his Relationship direction meaning it is not a time to enter into agreements or try to collaborate on projects. They will just end on a bad note.

This combination of robbery on Success and conflict on Relationships is a lose/lose proposition. There's no way to win...and he didn't. Again, it's not about judgement it's about energy.

Don't let the energy of your best directions control you the way it has OJ Simpson and everyone else. Instead, learn to work with it. You have the ability to enhance the positive energy and eliminate the bad with the right feng shui tools.

Anyway, to answer the question, I'm not psychic (sigh). I just use feng shui to comment on events that are already in the news. It's not rocket science and it's not "mystical" because anyone who knows 8 Mansions feng shui and Flying Stars can do the exact same thing. Darn.

Hanging Chads and Feng Shui

A few weeks ago we talked about a type of feng shui called Flying Stars Feng Shui and the feng shui personal best directions of Obama, McCain, Biden and Palin. I wrote that based on the Success and Relationship directions for each of these people and the Flying Stars energy on those directions during the election that feng shui energy of the McCain/Palin ticket is much stronger which would indicate that they would win the election.

If you remember back to last week's article Flying Stars feng shui is great for evaluating upcoming events. In Flying Stars Feng Shui there are 9 Stars. Each Star has it's own unique type of energy and these are:
Career Star - associated with cash flow from your career and academic success
Illness Star - associated with mental, emotional and physical health problems
Conflict Star - associated with lawsuits, arguments, divorce, disagreements, bankruptcy
Relationship Star - associated with networking, partnerships, friendships
Disaster Star - associated with unexpected disasters including major illnesses, accidents, loss of wealth, unforseen trouble, obstacles
Wealth Star - associated with promotions, leadership, unexpected windfalls
Robbery Star - associated with theft, arguments, power struggles, bankruptcy
Long-Term Wealth Star- associated with long-term prosperity, long-term investments, good fortune
Joy Star - associated with recognition, fame, happy marriage

Here are the Success and Relationship directions for the candidates in this year's election:

Obama McCain Biden Palin
Success South SE North West
Relationships SE South East SW

Looking at Obama and McCain's Success and Relationship directions you can see that they mirror each other. This is a very good indication about why they are so close in the polls. The energy for them this year is identical, it's just represented in different areas. If you were to just look at the energy of these two men without taking into consideration their running mates it would be very hard to determine who would win. It's a virtual tie.

That's where Biden and Palin come in to swing the vote. Their directions are different from Obama and McCain and they're different from each other. This creates a clearer image of the election outcome. The best way to look at this is to review the monthly Flying Stars for Nov. 4:

Obama and McCain have the same energy affecting them for the election but McCain has an edge over Obama this month because the Relationship Star falls on his Relationship direction at the election. This makes him much more attractive to the public at this time. Also, the L/T Wealth Star sitting in his Success direction indicates good fortune for his career.

Although Obama has the same monthly Stars as McCain the fact that they are flipped makes a difference because they're not as strong this way. Additionally, Biden has very negative Stars on his Success and Relationship directions on Nov. 4 indicating disaster as it relates to his career and struggles in his relationships.

Palin's numbers are mixed, but the Illness and Wealth stars are much better than Disaster and Robbery. In fact the Wealth Star indicates and unexpected windfall through her relationships. If the election is decided on Nov. 4 then McCain/Palin will win.

But here's the twist. The past two presidential elections have been extremely close. In fact, you may remember Palm Beach County being the butt of a number of jokes because of the "hanging chad" problems with our voting system. Well, folkes, the problem hasn't been fixed and the last two local elections in Palm Beach County have resulted in double counting votes, losing election ballots and lawsuits over a very close race between two county judges.

If the Presidential election is neck and neck again this year then the winner of the race may not be decided until several days after the actual election. In that case the Flying Stars would be completely different. Beginning Nov. 7 the Flying Stars change to this:

Do you notice how a fight over the election shows up in Obama and McCains Stars for the month? They both have Conflict and Robbery Stars in their directions. Unless the Nov. 4 election is a landslide a fight over the White House will definitely happen.

But the Stars favor Biden over Palin. Biden has the Relationship Star on his Success and the Wealth Star, which is also associated with unexpected windfalls, in his Relationship direction. Palin has a strong Star in her Success direction but her Relationship Star is very challenging. In this scenario, meaning a decision over who wins the White House, Obama/Biden would win because Biden's Stars are much stronger than Palin's at this time.

Flying Stars Feng Shui is a great tool for determining the timing of events. In Flying Stars Feng Shui there are 9 Stars. Each Star has it's own unique type of energy and these are:

Career Star - associated with cash flow from your career and academic success
Illness Star - associated with mental, emotional and physical health problems
Conflict Star - associated with lawsuits, arguments, divorce, disagreements, bankruptcy
Relationship Star - associated with networking, partnerships, friendships
Disaster Star - associated with unexpected disasters including major illnesses, accidents, loss of wealth, unforseen trouble, obstacles
Wealth Star - associated with promotions, leadership, unexpected windfalls
Robbery Star - associated with theft, arguments, power struggles, bankruptcy
Long-Term Wealth Star- associated with long-term prosperity, long-term investments, good fortune
Joy Star - associated with recognition, fame, happy marriage

Each one of these stars sits in a specific location for the year. The image in the upper left hand corner shows where these Stars are located in 2008.

Now, in addition to these stars having a fixed location for the year, there are a second set of these same Flying Stars that move each month. So, in reality there are 2 Flying Stars in each location: one that is there for the whole year and another one that changes every month.

For the month of September the chart in the upper right hand corner shows you what the Flying Stars look like with both the annual Flying Stars and the monthly Flying Stars together.

Every year there is one month when the annual Stars and the monthly Stars land in the same location. For 2008 this month is September. When the good Stars, like Long-Term Wealth, Career, Relationship or Wealth double up that means the opportunity to experience the effect of those Stars is much stronger, particularly if you sleep or work in the area of your home or office that holds those Stars.

This month working or sleeping in the NE, East, North, SE or Center of your home or office is ideal. If one of your personal best directions happens to be where these double positive stars land that is beneficial for you, too.

The flip side of this is when the negative Stars double up. That can create major problems for you, particularly if you work or sleep in these areas. If you can avoid working or sleeping in the South, SW, West or NW areas of your home or office this month that would be great.

In any case, you can always activate the positive Stars to trigger their energy even more AND you can remedy the negative Stars to minimize their effects. The effects of Flying Stars isn't limited to your home or your office. They affect the country and the planet as well. This month we've already seen the effects of the Disaster Star in the South in the form of Hurricane Ike.

If you look at a map of the United States you'll see that the South is made up of New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Because of the double Disaster Star energy in the South this month this areas was ripe for this kind of natural disaster. (By the way, positive and negative Stars usually show up as good weather or bad weather/natural disaster when you're looking at countries.) As it turns out, Ike is expected to move through part of Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas before completely dissapating.

Although Hurricane Ike brought with it mass destruction it will probably result in a transformation of this part of the country, not just in terms of physical aspects like new buildings and homes but also on a deeper level. This is because the Disaster Star brings about a sudden unexpected shift that helps people make changes in their lives that they would not otherwise have pursued but that are beneficial in the long run.

Why McCain and Palin Will Take the White House

FENG SHUI IN THE NEWS: McCAIN/PALIN

As promised in last week's newsletter I ran an analysis on the McCain/Palin ticket as soon as the announcement broke last week. From a feng shui perspective she looks like a good pick. She happens to be a West group person, which is yin (female energy), and McCain is East Group, which is yang (male energy). Since she's female and he's male it's already a good combo from a balance of energy standpoint.

The timing of picking her is excellent. Her Relationship direction is associated with long-term success this month and investing for the long-term. Additionally her Success direction for August is all about creating professional relationships. Because there is an annual Robbery Star on her Relationship direction and a Conflict Star on her Success direction for 2008 she probably wasn't the first choice, but the timing of the decision was definitely in her favor.

At the time of the election she will have the star associated with unexpected windfalls on her Relationship direction, which is positive. However, there is an Illness Star on her Success direction that month that combines with the annual Conflict Star. This creates what's known as "bullfight sha" or fighting energy. In a home it usually means conflict between mother and son but in a career it can mean conflict between a woman and a man. This may mean that she and Obama spend a good amount of time attacking each other up to and during the election. Another interesting combination for her in October is that the Career Star lands in her Wisdom direction which would indicate that she made a good career choice in agreeing to be VP and this will be beneficial to her.

When I look at McCain's personal feng shui directions he also has positive aspects. His Success direction has a double Fame Star for the month of September which indicate he will have an easier time getting public recognition and backing from the public and his party. His relationship has a double Disaster Star on it, though, which can mean that he has trouble with people on his team, within the Republican party or that some news about his relationships causes turmoil.

The energy for his directions at election time are excellent for Success as he has a double long-term abundance star there. Additionally, the Relationship star lands in his Relationship direction that month which can help him generate the support he needs to win the White House.

The negative energy affecting the Obama/Biden ticket seriously cripples their chances of winning particularly given the more positive feng shui energy that the McCain/Palin ticket holds. Now you know why they say, "Timing is everything." Either way our country is about to make history.

Obama Biden Not the Winning Ticket

Barack Obama announced that his running mate would be seasoned politician Joe Biden of Delaware. This choice, from a feng shui perspective, has put the nail in the coffin for Obama's chances of winning. Here's why:

As I mentioned in previous e-mails, in feng shui Obama is an East Group person. In general, this is a great year for East Group people but Obama's Success direction has a Disaster Star on it this year. Although his Relationship direction has a Fame Star on it, the Disaster energy is stronger so even though he is well received by the public (in a sense "famous") his bid for the presidency is overshadowed by the heavy energy of the Disaster Star.

Joe Biden, as it turns out, is also an East Group person. His Success direction is auspicous for 2008 but the months of September and October are particularly bad for him in two ways. During September Biden has a Double Disaster Star on his Health Direction. The last time this Double Disaster Star landed in his Health area was 1988 and it was that year that he had a brain aneurysm and almost died. Now, the Double Disaster Star on Health doesn't always mean death but it does usually bring a setback in health in some form.

September is also a bad month for Obama's career success as the Double Disaster Star lands in his Success direction next month. There are likely to be unexpected setbacks for him that weren't anticipated.

The following month, October, won't be much better and this October energy goes all the way through Nov. 4, the date of the election. In October the Disaster Star lands in Biden's Success direction which doesn't bode well for his career. On top of that, the Relationship Star lands in Obama's Success direction, which would normally be a good thing, but because the yearly Disaster Star is also in his Success direction for 2008 this combination means that his professional relationships (meaning his supporters, campaign team, or even the Democratic Party) aren't strong enough to carry him to success.

All of this feng shui energy gives the McCain team an opening to move ahead and capture the White House on Nov. 4. Once McCain picks his running mate I'll give you a feng shui outlook for them as well.

John Edwards' Affair

FORENSIC FENG SHUI

This week John Edwards dropped the bombshell that he has been lying about an affair he had over a year ago. Now everyone's waiting with baited breath to see if he's also the father of his mistress' baby, which he also denies.

It's not surprising that this news would land in the press this month because August is a triple whammy month on relationships for people with a Kua number 2. Here's what I mean, John Edwards' Relationship direction is Northwest. This month the annual Illness Star combines with the monthly Conflict Star resulting in what's known as "Bullfight Sha" which means major arguments and disagreements between males and females in the household.

Additionally, his Success direction holds the Relationship Star for the year and the Disaster Star for the month which translates to a dramatic unexpected upheaval in his personal and/or professional relationships which could directly affect his career. It's probably safe to say that any chance for a future bid for the Presidency is out of the picture.

And last but not least, his Health direction, which is also directly related to his sex life, holds the Conflict Star for the year and the Relationship Star for the month. This leads to more conflict in his relationships and happens to involve conflict related to his sex life.

This triple combination of conflict on his Relationship direction, upheaval related to his professional and personal relationships in his career and even more relationship conflict related to his sex life make August 2008 the opportune time for his past indiscretions to become too big to cover up any longer.

Another interesting side note is that the media reported John Edwards' affair began in October 2006. When I looked at his Relationship feng shui for that month I found that it was the perfect monthly and yearly combination for creating heartache for his wife, which it unfortunately has.

Olympics and 08.08.08

The opening ceremonies in Beijing take place this Friday, August 8, 2008 at 8:08 p.m. The number 8 is considered very auspicious in the Chinese culture and also in feng shui as well.

The number 8 is associated with Wealth in both China and in feng shui. Additionally, there are nine 20 year cycles in Time feng shui and we are currently in the cycle of time known as Period 8. Therefore, the number 8 is considered even more auspicious than in other cycles of time. Because of this the Chinese believe the date 08/08/08 and the time 8:08 p.m. is very lucky day and time to hold any kind of event.

It's also interesting that the Olympics are taking place in China because the number 8 is associated with the Northeast. If you look at a map of the world you'll see that the Northeast is occupied by China and Russia.

The number 8 is also about inner wisdom, education and spirituality. During this period of time (2004 until 2024) more and more people will be looking for ways to grow spiritually and will trust their instincts more than they have in the past.

And finally, the Earth is associated with the number 8 so it's not surprising that the "green" movement has taken off so easily these past couple of years. Although these same sentiments about taking better care of the Earth have been expressed for decades the general population wasn't interested until now -- during Period 8. This makes sense since we're now living in an "Earth" vibration.

Want to Increase Your Business? Dowse!

In my weekly newsletter last week I talked about the different layers of feng shui: Space, Time and Quantum. Another important component to an effective feng shui consultation is dowsing.

Dowsing is an art that dates back over 8,000 years and is most commonly associated with looking for water. If you've ever seen pictures of (or seen someone) walking across a piece of property with a forked tree branch they were probably dowsing (looking for) water. There are a number of bottled water companies that employ dowsers to look for natural springs as a water source for their products.

Dowsing was originally used in conjunction with feng shui to look for naturally occuring environment stress caused by fault lines in the earth which create cracks in our sidewalks, driveways and building foundations and create earthquakes, underground bodies of water like lakes or aquifers, underground caves and even different types of soil (like sand and clay) butting up against each other. These situations create what is known as Geopathic Stress (geo meaning Earth and pathic meaning Disease).

With the invention of electricity, cell phone and satellite technology we have additional stress in our homes and offices that are man-made. These types of stress are known as negative Hartmann lines (discovered by Dr. Ernst Hartmann in the early 1940s), negative Curry lines (discovered by Dr. Manfred Curry and Dr. Whitmann in the late 1940s-early 1950s) and interference lines.

Like the Earth, our bodies are made up of over 70% water, so just like the Earth our bodies react to these negative areas of energy, too. Each of these energies have their own way of affecting us depending on whether we're directly sitting in their line of fire or outside of it. If you're directly in their line of fire for 3 or more hours a day, over time this exposure can result in the breakdown of soft tissue in your body where the stress is "hitting" you which can result in problems including chronic fatigue syndrome, fybromyalgia, MS, cancer and dementia to name a few.

If you are not directly in the line of fire but the stress is strong enough then you'll experience this stress as on-going fatigue, feeling weak on a regular basis or being chronically sick. Studies have even shown that man-made environmental stress from interference lines alone increases the incidence of cancer by as much as 50% depending on how concentrated it is. People who are more sensitive to this negative energy will be the most affected.

Some buildings have offices or work stations that are particularly negative. When that's the case it's usually hard to keep that office occupied. The people who are hired and assigned to work in that office never seem to "work out." They quit after a short period of time, they're out sick more often than other employees leaving you to wonder if you hired the right guy or gal for the job or they come across as negative even though when you hired them you didn't see any signs that this kind of behavior. If you're a manager you may wonder why you can't seem to "fill this position" with the right person. More than likely it's not the person you're hiring but rather the office or work space you've assigned to them that's the problem.

Using dowsing, I block these stress lines both outside and inside building that are causing you grief so that everyone working in your business can feel their best and do their best work for the company. When your employees are happy turnover declines, they feel better, are more productive and they treat your clients better. Now your clients are happy and are more likely to buy from you.

Also, because environmental stress reduces the energy level in a building it can actually prevent your feng shui from working in a worst case scenario. In a best case scenario environmental stress limits the effectiveness of your feng shui activations because feng shui works with the energy that's already in your building. If the energy is low or negative then the positve energy generated from your feng shui activations is having to counter this negative energy being created by the environmental stress. When you block this stress with dowsing you actually lift the energy level and then the positive feng shui activations are enhanced by the new positive energy in the building. It's a total win-win.

There aren't too many Classical Feng Shui Experts who also dowse here in the U.S. but it was important to me to learn both pieces because of the measurable difference in results and feeling created when dowsing and classical feng shui are used together. High Rises, Feng Shui and Dowsing

A lot of my e-zine subscribers are managers of high rise buildings. High rises present their own set of challenges when it comes to feng shui because feng shui works with the energy of the earth so the closer to ground level your living and work spaces are the better your feng shui will work.
The higher you are off the ground the further ch'i (pronounced chee and meaning "energy") has to travel to reach the space. This means the higher you go in a building the harder it is for ch'i to reach you and the longer it will take your feng shui activations to work.

If you live or work in a high rise building try to get space somewhere between the 1st and 5th floor of the building. This is where you'll experience the greatest benefits from feng shui. The effectiveness is reduced by the time you get to the 6th floor and by the 11th floor you may feel that you're not experiencing any change because it takes so much longer for the energy to rise up and circulate through the building. You will still benefit from feng shui, however it's likely that it will take 9 months or longer to notice changes taking place.

Now, interestingly enough, stress caused by fault lines, underground water, electric outlets and interference from cell phone and satellite towers actually increases the higher you go in a building. So if you live or work on the first floor you may barely notice these types of stress in your environment but someone on the second floor may be very affected by it because the energy of this stress doubles from one floor to the next. If you live or work above the first floor you'll definitely want to get your space (or building if you can) dowsed.

Another reason you want to dowse your space is that this environmental stress reduces the effectiveness of your feng shui activations. The combination of slowing ch'i and increased environmental stress the higher up you go makes activating your feng shui pointless without dowsing first.

Sedona Vortexes

A friend of mine is moving to Sedona, AZ soon and I'm creating a feng shui plan for her home. Creating a feng shui plan for homes in Sedona is not like creating plans for homes in other parts of the U.S. because Sedona has a unique energetic characteristic -- it contains a number of positive vortexes of energy. When your home contains one or more positive vortexes or you are in an area like Sedona that's filled with them throughout the city then the feng shui rules change. If you're working with a feng shui consultant who isn't a dowser they won't know how to find these vortexes much less what they are and the feng shui plan you receive won't accurately reflect strategies to enhance that energy in your home or office.

Normally, places like bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens are seen as rooms that will "flush" the energy. If your Time feng shui analysis shows that there is negative energy in those rooms then that's beneficial because the drains in those rooms will "drain" about half of the negative energy for you without you even having to place a feng shui cure.

On the flip side of that, if your Time feng shui analysis shows positive energy in those rooms then that will hinder your ability to tap into that positive energy because 1/2 of it is being flushed or drained away. Even if you put a feng shui activation in your bathroom, laundry or kitchen you'll only increase the positive energy there by about 20 percent. Bummer.

But, if your bathroom, laundry room, or kitchen happen to have a positive vortex then you don't have to worry about the Time feng shui for that room at all because the uplifting energy of the vortex (depending upon how strong it is) will create positive energy naturally. When that is the case you could even set up your office in those rooms and do well. Who knew?

The positive energy created by the vortexes in and around Sedona, AZ create a positive energy field for everyone who lives there. The closer you live to one of these vortexes the stronger the energy will be for you. The caveat to living in a place like this is to know what kind of vortex you live closest to and set up your feng shui to balance out that energy so that you're life doesn't become too passive/introspective (yin) or too outgoing/aggressive (yang).

Rising Cost of Happy Meals

Yesterday, I took my kids to McDonald's for a "treat" - a hamburger Happy Meal. Now, the last time I bought a happy meal it was $2.79 at the restaurant and this was just 2 weeks ago. The price has now gone up to $3.69 - almost 33% in less than 14 days! I'm not sure if their costs have gone up 33% with the price increase in oil. My guess is that the petroleum used in the plastic toy prizes is the culprit! I wonder if they'd give me a discount if we skipped the toy prize...

Northwest Disaster Star for June

One of the schools of feng shui, called Flying Stars, deals with energy that changes monthly, yearly and every 20 years. Center Yourself

Everyone is so busy in their lives and with work that it's easy to get overwhelmed by circumstances and people that surround you every day. From where we stand it looks like everything and everyone is separate, distinct and operating in their own little world. But Feng Shui Masters will tell you that we're all one in the same. Although it appears that we are different because of the way we look and act we are actually all made up of the same Universal energy we're just expressing it differently.

That's why it's important for you to make time to do something that brings you back to this Universal center each day. Because of the work I do as a Feng Shui Expert and dowser it probably wouldn't surprise you to know that I meditate every day. It took me years to find the right form of meditation but it was worth it because it's made such a difference in my life. Finding the right "centering" exercise for you will bring you the same results, too. Whether you choose to do yoga, tai chi, qi gong, meditate, sing, exercise or read something that lifts your spirits take time to do this for yourself every day.

Summer with the Kids

My kids finished school for the year last week. While they'll be spending part of their summer in camp they'll also spend their fair share of time at home with me, which means lots of time for them to get on each others nerves. Whenever I approach a potentially challenging situation I always look at what I can do from the Human Luck side of things as well as the Earth Luck side and summer with the kids is no exception.

Obviously, finding activities to keep them busy is a must. We'll be swimming, going to the movies, doing crafts and take trips to the zoo. Those are Human Luck activities. Additionally, I'm being extra vigilant about what the Children/Creativity area of my home looks like by making sure that there is minimal clutter, spending time doing our crafts in the Children area of our home, which happens to be their play room, and making sure that area of our yard is set up for them as well. All of these things are good Earth Luck, or feng shui, strategies for keeping all of us sane this summer.

Is the Polygamist Texas ranch the ideal breeding ground for child abuse?

Feng shui can be your best friend or your worst enemy. In the case of the polygamist ranch in Texas it was the latter. These 3 things created the ideal location for child abuse at the Texas ranch:

The layout of the property. The Temple sits on the West side of the compound and in feng shui West is associated specifically with Children. This indicates that children will be the main center of attention for the group of people living here.

The Temple was built in 2004 and faces East. Because of this feng shui arrangement this cult attracts the energy of Lawsuits and Legal Conflict to themselves and their church.
The South and Center areas of the Temple are both associated with Sex Scandals as a result of the direction the building faces and year it was built. Since Sex Scandals show up twice in the Temple it intensifies the problem for this group.

Every year positive and negative feng shui energy shift. This year the energy related to Lawsuits and Legal Conflict landed in the West, the location of the Temple on the property and the area associated with Children while energy related to Disaster landed in the South, the area associated with Sex Scandals. The combination of Disaster and Lawsuits related to children and sex resulted in bringing the abuse at the ranch to a head.

Although feng shui has been around for over 5,000 years, it was only introduced here in the United States in the 1970s. Whenever I speak with people from California, Oregon, Arizona or other Western states they know what feng shui is. But here on the East coast I often hear, "Feng what?" when I answer peoples' questions about what I do or they think that feng shui is interior design. So, I thought I'd write an article to better explain what feng shui is all about.

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese art that is focused on taking advantage of specific elements in nature to create a balanced, harmonious environment. Originally it was used to select the most auspicous location for burial sites then over time it was used by Chinese emporers and Euorpean kings for their palaces and more recently by Fortune 500 companies.
The Chinese believe that there are three types of luck:
Heaven Luck - which we would call destiny or fate
Human Luck - your talents, skills and what you do with them, the friends you choose, the people you work with
Earth Luck - your environment including the country you live in, the town, the neighborhood, your home and feng shui

They believe that Human Luck and Earth Luck are within our control. Since each of these types of luck make up 1/3 of our total luck that means we're in control of 2/3 or about 67% of our luck. In other words, if you create the right environment (Earth Luck) to support you in your personal efforts (Human Luck) then you have greater control over your destiny.

The way feng shui works is that there are 5 identifiable elements in nature: fire, earth, metal, water and wood. Each of these elements is associated with a specific direction. If the elements are located in the right direction then you have a positive flow of energy or what is known as a Productive Cycle of Elements. When these elements are in the wrong locations you have a negative flow of energy or what is called a Reductive or Destructive Cycle of Elements.
